Tiberias is very much a tourist town, there are plenty of bars, cafes & restaurants both along the water front and in the town. Also there are Gallieons covered in lights with blaring music which go out on the lake at night time.
Although there is no historical evidence to suggest that the boat found at magdala area of Ginnosaur town North of Tiberias was patterned after the fishing boat that the Apostles of Jesus used. The enterprising Israeli Tourism Officials actively promoted the riding of these Jesus Boats along the Sea of Galilee since the late 1980's and it caught on...more

Yardenit is the place where many Christian pilgirms come to be re-baptized, you can see a group undergoing the ritual in the picture. The true tourist trap here is the gift shop, we checked out some of the prices for locally made things, such as ceramic plates and the prices were not twice as much, but THREE times what we paid for them in the SHOUK (market) in Nazareth..
Unique Suggestions: Utilize the facilities for the rituals, but avoid the gift shop.
Fun Alternatives: If you are on a pilgrimage to Israel, you will most likely visit Nazareth as well as Yardenit, so do your shopping there, or in Tel-Aviv or Jerusalem.
Luggage and bags: My mother wanted water from River Jordan, so after complaining lol ( as suual in me) she got this bottle, thanks to Sharon and Stace!

Better known as the place where Whitney Houston made a spectacle of herself while being baptized in the waters of the Jordan River. Dimitry, our resident fishing expert tells me that the Kinneret Lake is ideal for fishing several types of fish. You can see in the picture that he caught a large catfish and seems to be pleased with himself. We tied the fish on a line and planned to eat it the next day.
Equipment: The story behind this fish is that after we put it on a tied line, all the kids started asking Dimitry not to "hurt or harm" the fish. I told the kids that the fishes name was WILLIE (if you remember the film about freeing a killer whale named Willie, you will know what I was doing). The kids started telling Dimitry that he should "free willie" ^O^. After the protests when on for several hours Dimitry finally "folded" and conceded to their demands and WILLIE WAS FREED. The moral of this story is two. One if you go with kids to fish, make sure the have not seen the movie. Two, cook the fish quickly don't leave him out to dry ;O)))))
This is the place where many Christians on pilgrimages to Israel come to be baptized or re-baptized.. Gil and I took Andie and Gabrielle there for a short visit.
