Sermon on the Mount
Helpfulness
Kuznetsov_Sergey 4507 reviews
The sermon has verses, each starting with "Blessed the..." or in Latin "Beati ...". The Latin word gave this hill its name - Beati-tudes. The sermon on the mount focuses on 9 verses:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake".

Yardenit - a very Expensive Gift Shop
Helpfulness
Martin_S. 2628 reviews
Yardenit is the place where many Christian pilgirms come to be re-baptized, you can see a group undergoing the ritual in the picture. The true tourist trap here is the gift shop, we checked out some of the prices for locally made things, such as ceramic plates and the prices were not twice as much, but THREE times what we paid for them in the SHOUK (market) in Nazareth..
Unique Suggestions: Utilize the facilities for the rituals, but avoid the gift shop.
Fun Alternatives: If you are on a pilgrimage to Israel, you will most likely visit Nazareth as well as Yardenit, so do your shopping there, or in Tel-Aviv or Jerusalem.
