Friendly Dental Clinic in K8 by Trillian2005 I did and it's worth it! It's much cheaper than in Tel Aviv because the rent for the clinics is less expensive in K8, which is a factor on the patient's bill. Dental care in K8 is also more adventurous than in Tel Aviv. The dental clinic I went to is in downtown K8 and run by two very nice, friendly, and polite Druze dentists from Syria. They studied in Damascus and now they live in Majdal Shams. I was expecting a crown or some root canal work and at the end it turned out that my tooth's filling just needed a bit of smoothing from the rough edges. And for all his efforts the kind dentist charged me...nothing. Zero. Nada. Silch. Where else can you find such hospitality? Leave a Comment

This waterwheel is located off the beaten path from Kiriat Shemona. It was installed in 1991 and hasn't stopped since then. It supplies water-powered energy to a very small portion of Kiriat Shemona. The waterwheel is very relaxing to watch, especially if you have nothing else to do. Leave a Comment

Old treasures! by haiamisa This man lives in my home town and is fond of old cars. He lives in a small house with a big yard which is full of old cars, trucks, tractors, buses etc. (I wonder what his wife thinks of it) He lives on the main road in the Rasco junction, the other side of the roundabout. The cars can be seen from the pavement of the main street. Leave a Comment

Mitzpe Golani is a network of Syrian fortifications and bunkers near the entrance to Banyas springs. 32 IDF soldiers fell here in a battle in the Six-Day War in 1967 - 20 survived... You can enter the bunkers and see the views to Kiryat Shmona and Hula Valley. Leave a Comment

Memmingen, Germany by Trillian2005 Good news for German tourists who have always dreamed of visiting Kiryat Shemona but felt that the travel distance was too far. You now have an excellent option! Visit Kiryat Shmona Street instead of Kiryat Shemona city. Kiryat Shmona Street is located in the small, picturesque town of Memmingen, in the Swabian region of Bavaria, not too far from Stuttgart. Why? Memmingen and Kiryat Shemona are not official sister cities (yet?), but they got friendly enough being best soccer club buddies, or something along these lines. While on Kiryat Shmona Strasse in Memmingen, you may want to see the Pele Mechanical Engineering Company that is located there. P.S. On my next visit to Kiryat Shemona, I'll have to check if there's a Memmingen Street. P.P.S. Although Memmingen sounds a bit like Mämmi, there aren't any connections as far as I know. Leave a Comment

This lookout is somewhere between Migdal Shams and Masade. You can get there only by a 4-wheel drive car. (Our friend Hir took us there as we don't have 4x4) You get great views of the druze villages, Birket Ram lake and Syria. Leave a Comment

This memorial is located opposite the municipality building of 'Mevuot Hermon' about 10 km south of K8. The memorial is for soldiers and victims of terror from moshavs and kibbutzim in the area (not from K8). The Palmach hiking trail ends (or begins) here. Leave a Comment
