Qiryat Shemona Things to Do

  • Zooming around on an ATV

These are called Tractoronim over here, and they can be hired from nearly all the kibbutzim around in the Galil and the Golan. We got a brochure from the Guest House and took it from a company called Iguana. It cost 170 shekels for an hour for two of us (we went on one thing together) and it was really fun!

  • Nature and Animal Lovers

At har Haodem in the Odem forest there is a nature reserve where you can go right up to the wild fawns and deer and even feed them.Great if you have little kids and the views there are spectacular.

  • Go right up to the Border

If you go up to the Golan Heights you have to go right up to the Syrian border and then you will see how the view opens up ,and you look right across into Syria on one side and Lebanon the other. It is amazing to see how close they are. You can go around the old bunkers from the 6 day war and see how the soldiers lived up there and even see burnt...

  • Kayaking and ATV trips!

There are lots of things to do in the Galil and the Golan. I had never done Kayaking before as I am not very sporty, but the kayaking in the waters of the Jordan river at Park Hayarden was a great experience. We saw many birds and even a little turtle as we drifted along the peaceful waters. It is not white water rafting but it was enough for me!...

  • The Manara Cliff

At the south entrance to Qiryat Shemona you'll find the cable car which will take you to the top of the cliff, next to Kibuzz Manara. From the top there is a magnicient view of the valley below, the Golan Heights to the east and Mount Hermon and Lebanon to the north. Once you're at the top you can enjoy one of the many activities like hiking,...

Mount Hermon is the highest point in Israel. It can give you the oportunity to do some hiking all over the year, and practise some skying in winter.Sometimes even in summer, some areas are covered with snow, and as the chair lift works all year, you can go up.

  • Senir Stream

That night we slept on Rosh Pinna this little house was wonderful. In the morning after a relaxing breakfast at the porches, we went to the north to visit some natural parks over there, we first stopped on this stream, and did the walking over 2-3 hours over the stream.Just lovely, the idea of the desert Israel, that we all have on mind, just...

  • Mount Bental Lookout point: Some History

During the six day war in 1967, Mount Meron was used by the army as a lookout point. You can also learn about the military situation of the area, the strategic importance of the Heights, the disposition of the two armies and the history of the Syrian/Israel conflict.

  • Mount Bental Lookout point

This was our last visit during that day. There is here a observation point. The Hebrew name is Tel Abu-Nida, basically is an Israeli military position, overlooking the Syrian Golan heights. From the top you can see all the north borders, and incredible views. You are not allowed to do many photos on this area.

  • Nimrod Fortress (Golan Heights)

We were on the road lost lol, when we saw it, we decided to look around, but it was closed by that time, at least we were able to have a pic, this fortress from the Crusade times, looked incredible on the top of the hill
