Al-Tibat: Al-Tibat for the Hummus

by Martin_S.

Located in the gas station on highway 65 (the connecting road between the coast at Pardes Hanna and the interior Afula), between Arara and Um-Al-Fahum, it is a good place to stop for a snack of Hummus, since what we were served was excellent. Also the pita bread was freshly made, a nice change from the usual day old stuff. For some reason I could not find any of the cities and towns surrounding this place, Um-Al-Fahum, Arara, Araah, Mei Ami or MusMus, were not to be found on the VT database. If these appear in the future I will move this tip out of the general area of Haifa and into that specific spot.

Amphorae Vineyard: Amphorae Vineyard near Zichron Yaakov

by Martin_S.

We ended up at the Amphorae Vinyard with our friends Nathalie and Rob. When we tried to enter we learned that it was closed for a special tasting and it also cost 20NIS (about US$5) to get the tour with tastings. I spoke with one of the people setting up the tasting area, explaining that we had just drive over 200 kilometers to get there from Arad. They opened the door, invited us in and did not charge us. We had about an hour before their closed tasting session began so we took full advantage of what they offered us. First we toured the facilities and you can see from the photo that they have fairly new barrels because they are only a few years marketing their product. After the tour they opened several bottles for us that are NOT usually opened for general tastings, but since they were soon to have the special tasting they did for us ^O^We very much enjoyed the visit here, including...
