What to shop in Tiberias: What to shop in Tiberias

by mindcrime Written Apr 3, 2014

We didn’t notice many souvenir stores in Tiberias, probably most Christians prefer other famous spots like Jordan river, Capernaum, Tabgha etc).
But even late in the evening we noticed an open market along the promenade, nothing special but it made our walk a bit more colorful.

This will be pictures of the Showroom and Jewelry Shop of Caprice

Many Jews are famous gemologists and are skilled in crafting really good jewelry pieces (most of the famous jewellers and jewelry shops in Manhattan, New York are run by Jews) and it is no surprise that Israel has lots of Jewelry factories and one of the main factories is here in Tiberias by the Caprice Jewelry. Most Christian Pilgrim groups that do the holy land tours pass by this large factory and showroom and they are really open here as they would allow you to picture around the store (unlike in jewelry stores around the world where picture taking is not allowed). Although Israel don't have a lot of precious and semi precious stones, the gemologist import most of these stones around the world and they then hand craft and polish them here to make really exquisite and fine jewelry.

    hours:

    Tiberias Shops: Shops in Tiberias

by machomikemd Written Sep 14, 2013

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Tiberias has many shops but most of which are catered to locals as most christian pilgrims that stay in Tiberias don't buy souvenirs at Tiberias since the town is not part of the Christian Pilgrimage as Jesus Did not Stay or Preach here, hence the lack of souvenir shops. the shops here are mostly local Israeli brands that sells shirts, fashion, department stores, jewellries and if you are here on weekends, a large flea market in the Central boardwalk where you can buy local handicrafts and food stuffs with the obligatory haggling.

most shops here are open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm everyday but many are closed during Sabbath (saturdays).

What to buy: local crafts and handicrafts, almost no souvenir items here.

What to pay: depends on your haggling skills

Tiberias has this easily located gear shop carrying shoes and packs and other hiker incidentals such as stoves and repair stuffs.

What to buy: I'm partial to the Israeli made packs KAL-GAV. The one I'm using now has had some tough service going through airport handling a number of times, two years of guide school and countless all day hikes. It's better than Lowe and one third the price.
