Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bring along a hooded fleece sweater and a good light parka to weather out the cold, wet winter. During the day it may be deceptively warm and sunny, but come evening, the wind and the rain will put a damper on any travel, even to the corner convenience store.

Get an extra pair of socks, preferably polyester, the kind available from Eastern Mountain Sports in USA. Israeli houses and apartments are built of poured cold concrete and don't have forced air heating. Some are equipped with heat pumps that do not quite heat all the space. Some private residents get by using a space heater, which leaves many travelers' feet literally cold. If you plan to be in Israel during the cold wet winter, invest in an electric sheet, that's how electric blankets are thought of here.
