Walking along David Street inside the Old City, and arriving to Habad Street, just under the corner you can find a very small place where you can eat delicious local falafel! Superb falafel!! I think is the one of the best falafel I eat during my stay in Israel, and is just local. The manager was very gentle and kind to us and very smiley to people.

I took pita bread with some mix vegetables in it plus a couple of big falafel balls. Was really delicious!!!

Broasted Foods: Fried Chicken a la Oriental Fast Food
  • Satisfaction:
  • If you are really hungry and you are around Salah-ed Din Street north of the old city in east Jerusalem and you like fried things, then you HAVE to go to Broasted Foods. (If you only eat healthy and you hate fastfood, you should not). Order the menue and eat it upstairs where arab mothers with their kids enjoy the meal, the AC is freezing and the little Arafat-altar in the back is shining.

The chicken menue: two big pieces of (deep-)fried chicken and a huge portion of potatoe wedges - coming with garlic sauce and ketchup. Enjoy also the salads. All together it costs around 15 Shekels. They have it also as takeaway.

    Cafe Rimon (Kosher): Overpriced
  • Satisfaction:
  • Since 1953, Cafe Rimon has been one of the leading restaurants among western tourists. There really is nothing wrong with this place, actually it is quite good, my real complaint is that the prices are basically made for tourists and there are smaller places of good quality that have better prices. It has seperate meat and dairy sides of the restaurant. Servings are reasonably portioned, not generous, but reasonable. The restaurant has outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. There is a security guard as well and they charge customers for security.

Caffit: Good food and ambience in the German Colony
  • Satisfaction:
  • The German Colony is one of those old Jerusalem neighborhoods with a special character and architecture. Emek Refa'im Street is always teeming with life (in the more sedate, Jerusalem sense of the word) in the evenings. Caffit is well known to the Yerushalmim (=people of Jerusalem), a nice place to have a meal right on Emek Refa'im, indoors or outside in the garden. The menu is vegetarian, so when you order a "mozarella hamburger" don't expext a cheeseburger but rather a cheesy, meatless "burger". If you enjoy "people watching" you will see the Yerushalmim all around you and notice how different they are from the Tel-Avivians!

The well known dish of Caffit is the yam (sweet potato) salad. The portions are generous and tasty.

Crown Plaza Dining Room at Floor -1: Breakfast at Crown Plaza Hotel
  • Satisfaction:
  • While staying at Crown Plaza Holiday Inn the breakfast was included in the price like in any Israel hotel. The breakfast was a huge buffet of salads, cheese, eggs, milk products, bread and pastries, fruit, cereals, olives, fresh orange and grapefruit juice and just anything possible. But you won't find sausages or any other meat as the meals are kosher and no milk and meat products are mixed at same meals.

Omelet that was made fresh for me (and everybody who wanted) by hotel staff. Freshly squeezed grapefruit juice by mr.haiamisa. Bread and cheese, olives. Vegetables. Yoghurt. What could I wish more for breakfast?

    Dan Panorama Hotel: Executive lounge
  • Satisfaction:
  • Not a great deal of choice when it comes to Holocaust day and open restaurants..So a safe, cheap and coveniently located option was the executive lounge of the hotel, where we had plenty of salmon, cheese, humus and salads with a glass of wine for few dollars.

    Darna: A touch of Morocco
  • Satisfaction:
  • Darna is Moroccan for Our Home. If you like Moroccan food, or if you want to try it, this is the place for you. Not only the food is great, but the decor is amazing. You go down the stairs into the restaurant and it's like going into a different world, taken from a tale of Arabian Nights.

Darna: Great Morrocan food and surroundings
  • Satisfaction:
  • This restaurant had amazing Morrocan food and the surroundings were equally well Morrocan. All the dishes that we took were fantastic. I have been to Morroco so they food was really similar to the original. However, the restaurant was very expensive (including the wine).

Diner Burger (Kosher): Great Burger Joint
  • Satisfaction:
  • This small hamburger joint is excellent for a late bite. They also deliver for free in the Jerusalem area. Prices are reasonable, the service is fast, and the chimichouri is excellent. They also have combo meals and side dishes but the best is their hamburgers.

Dining Room at floor -1: Shabbat dinner at Hotel Crown Plaza
  • Satisfaction:
  • The second night of our stay at Crown Plaza was Friday, we had the shabbat meal at the Hotel dining room. The meal was a huge buffet with too much food, which is typical at Israel hotel dinners.

I enjoyed rice and beef in spicy tomato sauce, gefillte fisch, stuffed wine leaves, salads and probably other things that I don't remember.
