    The Israel Museum should be part of a visit to Jerusalem; highlight is the "Shrine of the Book" which shows some of the Dead Sea Scrolls and tells the interesting stories about them.

    The Montefiore Windmill is one of the first if not the first piece of construction that build outside the traditional old city.

    The Windmill of Montefiore was built in the second half of the 19th century to provide a livelihood to the residents of the first neigborhoods of Jerusalem outside the city gates. It operated for about twenty years. The building still stands, but the wings and the dome are a reconstruction.

    The Yemin Moshe neigborhood was established in the end of the 19th century in honour of the 90th birthday of Sir Moses Montefiore. It became one of the first neigborhoods outside the Old City Walls. Between 1948 and 1967, it was an unsafe border community. Nowadays, it is a charming area where many artists live. It offers nice views on the City Walls and Mount Zion.

    This church was built in 1893 and is circular in shape with a blue dome. It is surrounded by a small garden. For somebody from a 'Western Christian' background, the inside of the church can look quite exotic.

    Over the gate to the church compound, you can see the Lion of Judah (1 Kings 10: 1-10): tradition has it that the Ethiopian Christians descend from the Queen of Sheba who visited King Solomon.

    Remember to remove your shoes before you enter the church.

    Once you're here, also note the house of Ben Yehuda (reviver of the Hebrew language) which is just across the street from the church.
