Elia Photographics Dealers: Old City Photos...

by Bavavia

Easy to walk by and miss.....i was looking for it and couldnt find it, then just came across it by accident. Its in the Christian Quarter. Michele( Jadedmuse on VT) mentioned she had purchased some really nice photos in the old city from one of the two photo stores( both are right next to eachother. i only visited this one). I went through the books and purchased 3 photos. They were wrapped well and i took them back with me on the flight home. They did not get damaged or anything on the long trip back. Old city photographs... beautiful pictures, black and white ( you can get color too if you like, but the B&W are the nicest in my opinion, to frame) I paid about $ 75 for each photo.. i didnt bother trying to bargain, this place is a very old family shop, with lots of customers, some very famous. i didnt think it was worth trying to bargain and may have been insulting to the owner. I...

Many shops!: Arab Souqs

by Bavavia

As you navigate around the old city, you will pass through the Arab souqs filled with stores selling food, spices, clothings, handbags, jewelry, souveniors, etc, etc, etc. Many have the same things( same exact things). Be prepared to negotiate. Many did not want to negoitate and at that point, i just walked away and tried it on the next vendor. Of course, be respectful of their product and negotiate with a fair price in mind, not too low and unrealistic.

Souk

The Old City has much to offer. Chain of streets from nearby Jaffa Gate to Muslim Quarter are filled with small shops that offer variety of goods, clothes, musics, jewelries, wood curvings etc. The price will depend on your barganing skill. Also visit the Cardo in Jewish Quarter.

Stop at the local stores.

In small places or villages around, stop at the local stores.Souvenirs, jewellery, handcraft and such might be cheaper then in the big cities, also you might find some original items.
