Take the train to Jerusalem

by dzohar

Trains run from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem several times a day. The ride is a bit slow (an hour and a half) but takes you through scenic wooded hills as it climbs 700 meters up to the capital. On arrival at Jerusalem(Malha station) get a bus or taxi into town.A large shopping mall (in Hebrew "Kanyon") is within walking distance of the station where you can find a selection of restaurants and all sorts of shops including a supermarket.Trains run every day except Saturday.

To Jerusalem

by Gili_S

To travel to those small places and villages in the area you will need a car.If only for Jerusalem, the easy way to get there is by bus, there is service from any large city in Israel. Also possible to take taxi service from Tel-Avivcentral bus station or Ben-Gurion airport.I must say that the old train line to Jerusalem was going on a beautiful route, but currently there is no train and a new route is under plan. I am not so sure about the schedule and when it will be completed.

Don't leave home without it.

I had the opportunity to bring my parents along on this trip, my dad who's a real live cow-poke climbed on to this camel and said "this is the way to travel in any country." Mom and me said "NOT." But we did travel onvery comfortable and aircondition bus ride with Land operator for Israel "Kenes Tours". Storie of the land from the time of the Bible to what is going on in the area now. Songs were sung, and Israeli joke like Puff the Jewish dragon. All excellent. Asks for Susan Maricus to be you guide, 2 thumbs up on her.
