Make sure its large, you will be buying quite a lot. From October to March bring rain wear. Always bring your umbrella.Good walking shoes and a warm sweater or jacket during the months I mentioned. Don't forget the sunblock also. If you have a medical condition make sure you have all the drugs you could possibly need, even headache tablets.Everyone should bring medication for diarrohera and vomiting etc. If you, like me, are carrying a lot of medication bring a doctors letter with you stating you are on prescription drugs.

Cheap Luggage as it will get banged up on the trip. Take your old walking shoes. Do not try to break in new shoes on the trip. Wash cloths as the hotels do not furnish them. Take any medications you are taking. Video, cameras. Allways take plenty of film and put new batteries in them.

Make sure you have good shoes if you want to do some hiking and remember it's really hot during the day, but chilly at night, pack everything. For the girls: You might want to have some toilet paper on you if you're going to go in the desert. With all the water you drink, it's got to come out some time... Bring lots and lots of film, everything's beautiful, and you're going to want it all on film.

Upon arrival and departure, be prepared to have your bags thouroghly searched. We bought only a carry on, and that was sufficent for the trip. Just remember, the more you pack, the more for customs to see, the longer it will take. Pack smart. Just bring essentials. Dress appropriately there. You will get weird looks and possibly denied entry to some sights. Remember, you are now in there country. Respect there beliefs.A pair of shorts is acceptable, but tank tops and very flashy shirts are not. we wore golf shirts and a pair of khakis. this seemed to be more than acceptable everywhere and encountered no problems. but when we were at the wailing wall , a couple was asked to leave because they wore sandles and shorts. Wear comfortable walking shoes and socks. They will routinely search your camera thouroughly. Be prepared. They will do everything short of popping open the film.

Pack LIGHT. We changed hotels 4 times and had to carry our luggage a lot. Better to wash clothes in the room at night than carry such heavy bags. The most comfortable pair of shoes you have for daytime sightseeing and one extra pair to wear to dinner at night. No jeans...they are hot plus they weigh more than cotton pants. A t-shirt with a light sweater is plenty. It rarely rains there. A travel umbrella is nice just in case. Something for stomach upset, etc. would be good to carry. Basically all 17 in our group stayed pretty healthy while we were there. Take plenty of film. Some in our group ran out and wanted to buy from others in our group. Our bus driver carried a cooler with bottled water. It cost $1.00 per bottle and the hotel restaurant sold the same size bottle for $2.50. We soon learned to buy extra bottles from the bus driver instead of paying the extra in the hotel dining...

Packing List, backpack ++++

Whatever type of trip you take, make sure to take an extra small backpack (about 20-30 liter size). You can use this for your camera, water, and other essentials when you make those small side trips by foot. Summer: make sure you have clothing for hot weather, it hovers around 40+ centigrade in summer at the Dead Sea and 30+ everywhere else. Sandals, shorts and t-shirt are accepted clothing for all, men and women. You will need long sleeved shirts and skirts/pants with some type of head covering (scarf/hat) to visit the religious sites of the Jews/Moslems/Christians.Winter: The winters can be very mild (in the upper teens or even lower 20's), but there can be the cold winter days also around 4-5 degrees centigrade. You should pack clothing for several thin layers (t-shirt, long sleeved shirt, thin sweater, jacket), then you can peel them off if the weather is warmer. Rain gear: there...

Almost forgot, if you do any off road hiking, in the summer or winter, take into account that the temperature difference between daytime (cool but comfortable and nightime (very cool to cold) can be quite extreme (10+ degrees centigrade). This can make for a quite unplesant experience if you go for a walk in a bright sunny winter day in a light shirt and pants and when night falls you freeze.
