Burger King Kosher: Just say no

by sorenf Written May 15, 2008

One of the main rules of kosher is that you can't mix milk and meat. This means that your whopper will be without cheese, but more seriously, and I can't explain why, maybe because of the dressing, it will be extremely dry and tasteless.

With so much good food on offer in Israel you are better off going for a kebab or something like that.

Favorite Dish: The fries were good...

"Anasheim" - People Restaurant: Enjoy the view.

by DovoftheGalilee Written Dec 13, 2007

Anasheim is the Hebrew word for 'people' and it translates as such for their English name which to us anglophiles seems strange. But the food more than makes up for it. At this little bistro you get the feel you have left Israel entirely and have gone to Boulder, Colorado or the north of Italy. Indoor and outdoor seating is available all with spectacular views. The restaurant is equipped to handle a group of twenty with no problem but do call ahead of time so you don't send them scrambling.

Favorite Dish: I enjoy their home made jams that accompany their fresh whole grain breads, their wonderful fajitas served sizzling on caste iron skillets, and the focaccia breads made on the premises in a stone oven. for beverages there is a full wine list and spectacular coffee drinks. In short it's a superb place to go for a brunch or a late dinner seeing as they are opened till 0200!

by ophiro Written Sep 30, 2007

The Herzeliya branch of moses is a very quiet one , located on the Industrial/High Tech area of Herzeliya Pituach , between other good restaurants.
During the week you will see a lot of High Tech people eating there but during weekend and evenings there are families or couplues that want to enjoy good food and lovely atmosphere.

The food here is like in Tel Aviv and the service is good also.

Couscous - Homemade is the best !: Couscous - Homemade is the best !

by ophiro Updated Sep 15, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Couscous is a middle eastern food , many jews from north africa that came to Israel love this food and everyone says that the couscous from their house/country is the best - Tunisia , Marroco and more.

My father if from Tunisia so i think that their couscous is the best.

There are a lot of middle eastern restaurants that you can enjoy a good bowl of couscous but i like the one that i am making myself and if you want here is the recepie :

Favorite Dish: I use 2 cooking pots for the vegetables that i put on the couscous :

    1: the soup
cut 1 big onion and fry it with oil until it is brown (not burn).
add cubes of 5 potatoes , 2 carrots , 2 zucchini , Humus , 2 sweet potatoes , small piece of a pumpkin and mix it with oil for 2 minutes.
Cover with water and add garlic , parsley , salt , pepper , cumin , a little bit turmeric and paprika.
cook the soup until the vegetables are ready.
I prefer cooking it until most of the water are evaporated.

2: it is not a must but i liked it : beans.
cut 1 big onion and fry it with oil until it is brown (not burn).
add beans and mix it with the oil , add small tomatoe sauce , cumin , garlic , salt , pepper and coriander.
cover with water and cook until most of the water are evaporated.

For the couscous i use Instant couscous and i put it with olive oil.

The place is not very expensive for the level of food.
We paid 160 nis for our dinner.

Favorite Dish: We started the meal with a good bread with butter and we ate a 330gr Hamburger with salad and baked potatoes.

Herzliya - Black bar 'n' Burger: Herzliya - Black bar 'n' Burger

by ophiro Updated Sep 15, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Black bar 'n' Burger is a new restaurant with the culinary advice of one of Israel's famous chefs Tzahi Bukshester.

There are 2 branches : Herzliya and Rehovot.

I went to the Herzliya branch to celebrate my birthday and it is a nice place , good music and good service.

The biggest problem is that we had to wait 30 minutes for the food but i guess it can happen.

Favorite Dish: I ordered the biggest hamburger they've got (330gr) with fried onion and french fries.

The portion of french fries was very big and good and the meat was great too !.

i also took 1/5 liter of the temple bar draft beer (a beer that was made for the irish pub next to the restaurant).

The hamburger cost me something like 44nis (with the french fries) and with the onion addon it was 54.
    the beer was 19nis.
