Kimel: Eat elsewhere
We first ate at Kimmel about eight months ago and really enjoyed our meal, so we had been really looking forward to going back. Alas, last night was a completely different story. It started well enough; the French onion soup and mushroom filled with goose liver in a port, fig and plum sauce were of fine quality and well presented. Although, and only my personnel opinion, the mushroom and liver appetiser didn't quite work. Sadly, what came next has nothing to do with individual taste and can be fairly described as disgraceful. I ordered the filet in saffron aioli sauce, cooked medium. It was served medium-rare (and definitely more rare than medium), with a large chunk of the meat still red rather than pink (although the meat in itself was of good quality and fairly priced at 99 shekels).
