Kimel: Eat elsewhere

by eatinisrael

We first ate at Kimmel about eight months ago and really enjoyed our meal, so we had been really looking forward to going back. Alas, last night was a completely different story. It started well enough; the French onion soup and mushroom filled with goose liver in a port, fig and plum sauce were of fine quality and well presented. Although, and only my personnel opinion, the mushroom and liver appetiser didn't quite work. Sadly, what came next has nothing to do with individual taste and can be fairly described as disgraceful. I ordered the filet in saffron aioli sauce, cooked medium. It was served medium-rare (and definitely more rare than medium), with a large chunk of the meat still red rather than pink (although the meat in itself was of good quality and fairly priced at 99 shekels). A good sauce should enhance and compliment the flavour of the meat without disguising it; the saffron...

The Elvis Inn: You won't believe it!!

by deannatravel

On the road from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv, is the little village of Abu Ghosh. There is a gas station and next to it is the Elvis Inn. The large statue outside gives you a hint as to what is inside. It is furnished and decorated like a typical American burger place. On the walls is so much memoribilia that you can hardly see the walls. Our tour guide gives the members of each tour a test. The questions is besides David and Solomon who is a another king with a location in Israel? Everyone is to write their answer on a piece of paper and hand it in to him. Then our guide reads the anwers he has received. Of course no one guess's Elvis. When we drive up to this restaurant he gives us the answer. By the way besides the novelty of this palce in Israel, the food is pretty good. If you are interested in a tour of the Holy Land contact us through our website.http://www.deannatravel.com A good fun...

coffe 'annan': cloud cafe

by amitco

Located on Mount Bental in the Golan, this beautiful coffe shop is a must visit to anyone around here. The views around are spectacular and there is also a small visaitor center just below the restaurant - a historic Israeli bonker. the food (mostly salads and cakes) is also good...The hebrew name is 'coffee annan' - not for this guy from the UN - but because 'annan' in hebrew means a cloud and since the coffee shop is very high they called it something like cloud coffee ;).

2C: Top of the world restaurant !

by amitco

Not exactly at the top of the world... (I think it is on the 50 floor) - still this restaurant provides an elegant atmosphire and delicious food.I tried several meat dishes that were realy good and were served with much care for their appereance as well as taste. Fish are also available. The name "2C" comes from "To See" - the restaurant is on a high floor of a circle shaped building providing great views day and night of Tel-Aviv and the neighbouring cities. The website is in hebrew only.

Birkat Ram restaurant: Nice view and druz food

by Sharon

If you're exploring the north of Israel in the Golan Heights area and climbing up to the Druz villages 'Mas'ade' and 'Majd Al Shams'just in between those two you could stop in the Birkat Ram (Ram Pool). which is a hidden natural pond with a lovely view and prett pastoralic.Just neat this pool there's a druz restaurant, you wont need to search, while you'll arrive the pond its there you wont be able to miss it.The restaurant serves an authentic druz food, sweets and coffe. The view from the wondows is lovely and i'd say that if you're hungery then stop there for a break !

SBARRO: Stick to the Pizza

by gilabrand

You don’t really want to go to Sbarro when you’re in Israel, do you? I mean, what would be the great attraction of an Italian pizzeria when you’re visiting the Holy Land? Sbarro started out as an Italian grocery store in Brooklyn opened by a family of immigrants from Naples. Since then, it has grown into a pizza parlor and fast-food chain with 900 outlets around the world. Israel is one of those places that has a Sbarro in every city. I have personally tried the ones in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. You’d expect them to be the same – I mean, a chain is a chain, right? Wrong. The Jerusalem Sbarro is better. I ate at the Tel Aviv Sbarro, right outside the entrance to Dizengoff Center, only because my husband was hungry and didn’t have the patience to walk a block to look for something better…and believe me, there is better. The place is not especially clean or attractive. It looked to me like...

The Armenian: Eat Armenian!!!

by Paul2001

The Armenian Tavern is one of the best and most popular restaurants in the Old City of Jerusalem. Having never eaten Armenian and for the fact that I was just about to tour the Armenian Quarter, I thought I would give it a try. The place did not disappoint. What first captures your attention when you enter the place is the old and rustic surrounding. There is an attempt here to make you feel that you have stepped back in history. The ceiling is high and vaulted. There is an old water fountain and the furnitures looks like it was built by some carpenter from centuries ago. There was also a group of musicians playing Armenian music that added flavour. This was the most memorable place that I ate in all of Israel. I had something that resembled kafta that was spicy and good.

Muza: Football colors from everywhere.

by CADUM

A nice bar/restaraunt where the locals go to hang out and socialize. A wide variety of food and plenty of different drinks to be had. This palce was usually busy as there are not alot of restaraunts in smaller cities in Israel. Anything with cheese and fresh vegetables.

Restaurant Directory

by Bregman

This site is the best and more comprehensive restaurants site in Israel. There is one tiny problem though... It has no English translation :-(Even if you decided on a restaurant without consulting the site you should go there and see if this restautant has a coupon there. Printing the coupon can get you freebies like a free glass of wine or a cocktail.
