Santa Fe: Mexican Dining Al Fresco - Don't Get the Burger!
OK, so I broke the first rule of regional dining - I went to a Mexican restaurant and did NOT order the Mexican food... In my defense, I was into the second week of my vacation and I was jonesing for a good old-fashioned American HAMBURGER. Alas, it was not to be had...
Santa Fe is a beautiful restaurant. We ate on the balcony, and the weather was perfect, having rained earlier that day. We sipped glasses of house wine (which was excellent), and each of us ordered the hamburger. Since we were there during the week, it came as a special with soup or salad. We each had the salad, and it was large and very tasty. I can fill up on the fresh, hot bread as well. When the hamburger came, I was already sated, but I ate the fries anyway. Apparently, hamburger meat is not ground as fine in Israel as it is in the States. Besides being under-cooked, well, let's just say I bit into bone and lost the rest of my appetite...
Favorite Dish: I should have made a meal of the salad and fresh bread. Or else ordered a Mexican entree. Several people in our tour group had eaten here the night before and raved about it, so I suspect it was my poor choice of entree that did me in...
