The northern tip of the Red Sea is relatively warm year-round, calm, and full of fantastic marine life. Two beaches I visited in January, 2009 offer excellent access and habitats. Coral Beach is a national marine preserve located about 400 yards E (N?) of the big aquarium. It's about 10 shekels for admission and use of locker room, shower, deck chairs. You can rent masks and snorkels but no flippers (you don't need flippers -- no currents or waves). You can walk out on a pier that extends just into the deep water outside of the reef. Bouys and a rope mark where you have access. Don't cross them because the habitat is fragile. The fish seem to know where the boundary is because they are not at all shy at close range. There is a second pier you can swim to, which was open last year but this year was closed for repairs and habitat recuperation.

Another good snorkel spot is Princess Beach, across the road from The Princess Hotel, which is called something else in Hebrew or Arabic. It is maybe 100 yards N of the Egyptian border. There are also two pedestrian piers at this beach. There are bathrooms available and an outside shower for rinsing off. Deck chairs for rent. You might be able to rent gear and access to the locker room, but I didn't see any concession person there. The fish and vegetation are absolutely amazing

    Eilat beach activities, Israel

Here in Eilat at the far southern tip of Israel between the borders of Jordan and Egypt you will find the end of the Red Sea, known especially for its diving. Here you can see on one of the beaches activities such as wind surfing, sail surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling and sailing.. There are many places on the beach that also provide sun shades for when you want to take a rest..many also have kiosks where you can find something to drink or eat.
