what to shop in Ein Gedi: what to shop in Ein Gedi

by mindcrime Written Aug 4, 2014

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The truth is that we didn’t shop anything in Ein Gedi but we saw soma spa/dead sea products in the store next to the Nature Reserve entrance. The store is useful if you need some basic food/water supplies, hats, tshirts etc But the next day we visited En Bokek where the prices were much better and the variety of the dead sea products way bigger. If you buy them in big cities (Tel Aviv, Jerusalem) or at the airport expect to pay way more than here.

If you stay at the Spa Hotel you will have good choices on these products too including body/foot lotions, the usual mud packs, bath salts, olive-oil soaps and other products that suppose to be good for the skin etc Many people use the mud area to cover their body as it’s supposed to be good for the skin but for us it was just a good opportunity for some funny pictures of these mud-coated tourist walking around :)

Sea of Spa: Dead Sea Products

You have to pass through the store of the Ein Gedi Spa ("Sea of Spa") on your way out of the spa. If you want to get some Dead Sea products to bring home as presents or for your own use, here you will find a wide variety.

There are bath salts, mud and lots of cosmetics based on the Dead Sea salts.
Among the medicinal products, there is a special section dedicated to psoriasis producrs, as many psoriasis patients frequent the Dead Sea to improve their skin condition.

Apart from all these, you can get all the souvenirs you want in this shop.

The Shop/Cafe off the Parking Lot: Dead Sea Skincare Products

by Ekaterinburg Updated Oct 24, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The reastaurant we ate in had a shop at one end. There were postcards and some other souvenirs here but 95% of the Merchandise consisted of Dead Sea Beauty Products. This is a huge industry in Israel and these products are sold right round the world. I overheard customers saying that if you bought them in London, for example, you would pay three times the price. All the skin products had lots of testers available and I sampled the moisturiser and all the body lotions. They claim to have a very high mineral content, plus vitamin B and a sun protection factor of 18. A lot of the group bought some of these creams etc but I didn't because I didn't want to have to carry any extra weight. I did buy them before leaving though, at Ben Gurion Airport, where I probably paid a lot more then I would have if I'd bought at En Gedi.

What to buy: The Body lotion, foot lotion ( which is incredibly moisturising ) and the olive-oil based soaps. All the skin products are worth buying and don't irritate sensitive skins. The Mud packs are very revitalising for tired achy bodies. I'm really satisified with all the products I bought.

What to pay: At En Gedi ,you can expect to pay a lot less for these products then you would in the cities or at the airport.
