Nahal Barak is a beautiful canyon in the southern desert of Israel, within the nature preserve of Ahsosh. Like many of the canyons in Israel it has been carved more by wind and sand than water, although you do get rainfall and then sudden flash floods here in the short rainy season between December-March...often you get NO rainfall at all. But the carving done by the wind and sand are, or at least seem to be, of a more delicate type as you can see in the second picture. The third picture shows one of the many stainless steel ladders that have been put in place by the nature authority to allow access for hikers. The last picture shows a natural waterhole carved out of pure stone, but the water is only as fresh as the last rainfall or if no animals have been washed into it.
