Around Sde Boker there are several private ranches, each with its own distinct character, which provide good home-made food in a special setting.
The Nachal Boker ranch was built from scratch by Moshe and Hilda, it has its own vineyard and a restaurant in a quaint barrel-like house made of wood and mud, with a cylindrical ceiling. We had a very tasty buffet dinner there, with fish, pasta, salads and wine. Moshe explained the the fish were grown in the Negev desert, in fish ponds in Mash'abei -Sadeh, and the wine was their own local label.
The restaurant is a warm, friendly and romantic oasis in the middle of the desert.

One of several independent makers of goat cheese here in the southern desert area between BeerSheva and Eilat. Their cheese is excellent and I would suggest trying
1) Tzfatit with onion
2) Tom
3) Camembert (old)
All were excellent, so we took and had a cheese, bread and wine picnic in the middle of the desert overlooking Nahal Tzin.

Here at Havat Karmi Avdat they grow their own grapes, the grapes are harvested and then contracted to a big company to process and make a special label carrying the Havat Karmi Avdat lable.
Sorry there is not a picture, just after we took at trip there our house was broken into and the camera along with 2 months of photos on several memory cards were stolen.
Favorite Dish: The wine we sampled was excellent and the owners also "dabble" in pottery and ironwork. You can drop in and visit their small gallery.
