If you want to use train you can get to the stop close to the 7 stars mall. I think it is not the best location if you want to go to the marina because from there you must take a taxi or walk for 30 minutes. From Tel Aviv it will take something like 10-15 minutes and it will cost you 7.5 nis. rom Haifa it will take something like an hour and it will cost you 25 nis. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

The best way to my opinion to get here is by car. The location of the city is on the main route from Haifa-Tel Aviv so you can stop here for a while and continue your way. To go to the Marina area you should get down on the boat junction (Ha'sira) and this is Herzliya Pituach. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Apollonia is on the coast just north of Herzlya. It is an impressive complex of old ruins. (There are many ruins all over Israel.) People came to live here 2500 years ago . Phoenicians were the first folks to settle here during the Persian era. After them followed different eras: Persian Hellenistic Roman Byzantic Early moslim Crusaders Late moslim Ottomans They all were interesting folks and travelled wide at their time and traded things from far and near. Apollonia was settled for 1800 years. Now there are only ruins left and the place is a National Park. You can walk around and enjoy the ruins, read chapters in history and enjoy spectacular sea views. The pictures of this tip are from my 2004 visit. I revisted Apollonia in 2007, the views have not changed. Leave a Comment

There is a nice marina with yachts and a lot of restaurants in Herzliya. You can come here just to walk around , to eat , for sport activities or to enter the shopping mall here. There is a big parking lot near the place that will cost 10-15 nis as far as i remember. Leave a Comment

Herzliya is a place for good life. That is why the beach is highly important. And what a beach it is! I really love this beautiful clean beach. Whether it is for swimming, playing with waves, walking on the beach or having a breakfast or dinner at a restaurant, this is the place to be at and this is The Thing to do while at Herzliya. Nothing else matters - the Mediterranean sea and the sun is there! Leave a Comment

The more Coca-Cola you drink, the better your Hebrew reading skills become - as long as you take a look at the Hebrew Coca-Cola label before and after each sip. This is a proven fact - after several months in Israel 90% of the tourists are able to identify any Hebrew Coca-Cola sign on the spot and without any reading errors. It gets a little tricky, though - there's also the Hebrew version of Diet Coca-Cola. Much to my own disappointment I haven't mastered the Hebrew alphabet yet - I don't like Coca-Cola. I have lived in Tel Aviv many many years but cannot recall going to Apollonia or even hearing people speaking about the place - and I only live about 15 minutes away! I went with friends during one of our festivals and there was a lot of family activity there. (See my travelogue). At the entrance you receive a map of the paths you can take. We spent a couple of hours here and we all enjoyed the visit. Everywhere there are signs that tell about the fortress and the battle that took place here between the Crusaders and the Mamelukes. Apollonia is located on a cliff that stretches the length of the Sharon coast. People first settled here some 2500 years ago. The site is located within a national park. The history of Apollonia is vast and there is no room here to write it all but people from the Persian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Early Arab, Crusader, Late Arab and Ottoman Empires were here.
