how to go there
Herzliya is 12km North of Tel Aviv, 77 NW of Jerusalem, 82km S of Haifa, 6km W of Raanana.
You can easily reach Herzliya Railway Station from Ben Gurion airport (one way ticket 20NIS) and Tel Aviv as it is along the main train line From Tel Aviv to the north. We arrived there when we returned from the north (Haifa) and realized that is in the middle of nowhere! The beach is 2,5km to the west, the upscale Herzliya Pituach 3km NW and the town of Herzliya is 2,5km east of the train station! It wasn’t a problem for us as some local friends came to take us by car otherwise you need to catch a taxi from there or wait for the local bus.
You can drive along Highway 2 from Tel Aviv (or Haifa if you come from the north), we also drove in/out of Herzliya from NE with our friends that live in Raanana.
how to move around
Moving around Herlziya is a bit tricky although it’s mid size town with about 40,000 inhabitants. The problem is that the main railway line splits Herlziya in two parts, The beach is 2,5km to the west, the upscale Herzliya Pituach 3km NW and the town of Herzliya is 2,5km east of the train station! So if you arrive by train you need a taxi or wait for the local bus. So, walking isn’t really an option here.
We took bus 29 (from Raanana, single ticket 6,60NIS) that passed through the center of Herzliya, the railway station, Herzliya Pituach and we stopped along the beach. On our way back we took again the same bus and stopped in the city for a café.
If you want to use train you can get to the stop close to the 7 stars mall.
I think it is not the best location if you want to go to the marina because from there you must take a taxi or walk for 30 minutes.
From Tel Aviv it will take something like 10-15 minutes and it will cost you 7.5 nis.
rom Haifa it will take something like an hour and it will cost you 25 nis.
The best way to my opinion to get here is by car.
The location of the city is on the main route from Haifa-Tel Aviv so you can stop here for a while and continue your way.
To go to the Marina area you should get down on the boat junction (Ha'sira) and this is Herzliya Pituach.
The train that goes from Tel Aviv to the north stops at Herzeliya as well. so thats one comfortable way to arrive.
