Mike's Place: "Your Home Away From Home"

Mike’s Place, in my opinion, is by far the best pub in Tel Aviv. It took me quite some time to finally write a tip about it, but this is because I so much enjoy my time there that I totally forget that I’m a devoted VTer who must take pictures and write tips about everything.
The truth is that if you haven’t been to Mike’s Place you haven’t been to Tel Aviv. Ask anyone, a local or a tourist, and they’ll all tell you where to go to have a good time!
Just think about a place that offers live music every night, has a huge selection of beer and other alcoholic beverages, is located in the best spot along the beach of Tel Aviv, serves great food including breakfasts, has the most friendly and professional staff and the most cheering atmosphere… would you skip anything like this? I can’t, and for many years I keep coming back.
I never failed to introduce a VTer to Mike’s, so if you’re in Tel Aviv and feel like having a VT meeting you already know where I’ll suggest you to go. You want a second opinion? Ask NYTim, he’ll tell you all about great time at Mike’s Place
Oh, I almost forgot, try their homemade pizza, goes great with that “never-stop-pouring” Guinness.

I met the funny -- small headed if you look at the pic -- Natalie. We laughed so much she almost wet her pants -- I made that up. We had a grand time at Molly Bloom's then headed a few doors down and had food with a Mexican theme in Mikes. The food was okay, the company -- excellent. if any VTers visit tel Aviv be sure to look her up

    Dress Code: Like a slob.

If you want to sit , drink a good beer and enjoy live rock or blues music you must go to Mike's place.
The location of the place is on the promenade (very close to the US embassy).
The place is not very big and if you want a good place try to come before 23:00.

BTW- on 30/04/2003 there was a suicide bombing on this place that killed 3 people - one of them was a great guitar player i knew called Yannay Weis . a great blues player.

    Dress Code: This is a bar/pub - dress normally , jeans , t-shirt , or even a suit.

  • Mike's Place: Not a pickup joint

    by Szykfan1 Updated Feb 7, 2007

I really liked this place during my trip to Tel Aviv in 2005. The drinks were reasonably priced, the waitresses were VERY FRIENDLY and the pizza was great! I thought the burgers were a bit spicey to my taste though. It is a great place to sit and listen to music, watch sports on the large screen outside, or listen to live music on Thursday evenings. People usually come in groups (although I came solo), so it is not the place to go to if you are looking to meet individuals. It is a nice place to sit and watch the "beautiful people" walk by in the evening. Dedicated security guard checks people as they come into the place. Right next door to the US Embassy.

    Dress Code: Very casual!

Mike's Place: Looking for tourists ?

Wasn't sure under which category to put this tip but let it be here.
Mikes place is a bar restaurant (not a high level one) which is know for being a tourists place, i dont think there's a tourist who comes to Tel Aviv and haven't had a beer there.
This days there are also Israelis there but its still know for being a very International place.
I know there's a live music on Thursday night but maybe also all of the weekend, im not sure.
If you feel like spending time there then remember its known more for its Atmosphere then for anything else.

    Mike's Place

Right on the beachfront, Mike's Place is one of many similar bars serving cold beers and western food. It stands out with its live music nights, friendly staff and interesting mix of regulars, apparently including a Vietnam veterans society. It suffered a suicide bomb attack last year but the only sign you'll see now is the donation box for the victims - otherwise it's all very laidback.

Oh and if you don't like to tip don't bother coming back - as the numerous signs on the bar say, people who don't tip go straight to hell!
