Ali Karavan: Best Humus world wide
Abu Hasah (Ali Karavan) is a place to eat Humus. Not exactly what you'd call "resturant", although there are chairs and people serving foods.
There are only three items in the menu: Humus, Humus-Ful (Humus with mashed cooked broad beens) and Masabacha.
If you already ate and loved Humus in the past, then this is a Humus you will REALLY love. Every Humus is differant and this one - belive me, I tried them all - is by far the best.
The Masabecha is made from very similar ingredients as the Humus, BUT it's completely differant. The Humus beens are cooked but not mashed, and they are mixed with hot Tehini , litely spiced with garlic, papper mash and olive oil.
There are TWO Abu Hasan resturant - the old one, which resides on a high platformed erea with a great view, and the new place, 5 minutes away, which has more space and less buissy but does not have the same wonderful view.
Important: both places are open until 14:00, more or less, every day. Technically, they close when there's no Humus left - and there are always too many people and too little Humus. This is why it moves so fast: you sit, you eat, you go. That's good if you're very hungry, and not so good if you are a slow eater.
If you come late, or if you want to sit in a place with a slower pace, then you can try Abu El Ahbed - a place not far from Abu Hasan (address: 85 Yeffet st. Yaffo). They have good Humus, and lots of other VERY nice dishes. Meats, stuffed vegetables, salads, soups.
Favorite Dish: The mesabecha is my favourite, and is considered by anyone who knows Abu Hasan to be the best dish.

Ali Karavan: Best Hummus in Israel?
This is my favourite hummus place. Any Israeli has his own hummus place he swear by and can argue for hours why exactly it is better than any other. So, this is mine. This place serves only hummus and phul (a kind of bean). Once the hummus made for the day is finished the place is closed, so you need to come here until noon. There is always a long line waiting for a table, and do not expect any privacy. People will be seated in any free chair. If you don't want to wait, you can go the window and take the plate to eat outside (on the sidewalk...). They don't even have take out containers. So, people come with containers from home to take some hummus.
The hummus comes in two variation, the regular one and the one called mesabcha which is warmer and a little different texture. The late Dudu Geva, a famous Israeli animator and a hummus authority, claimed that this is the best mesabcha in the middle east, and thus the entire world...
