Yo'ezer: Simply one of the best
One of the best restaurants in the country (and I'm surprised its taken me until now to add it to my tips!).
Renowned for its meat dishes and superb (and extensive) wine list, Yo'ezer is to be found down a Jaffa alley opposite the police station. Its a 19th century converted wine cellar, with vaulted rooves, uneven floors etc. The lighting is dim to dark, lots of candles. Decor is appropriate - heavy wooden tables and mismatching chairs. It has the feel of walking on to a film set.
Favorite Dish: Meat! The list is long, but red meat is the speciality - ranging from the straightforward entrecot (served with a superb rosti) through to lamb cooked for 7 hours. Vegetarians will struggle here as the chef offers some 20 meat dishes and, outside of starters, only 2 for veggies.
And then there is the wine list as well as martinis that will knock your socks off....
But cheap it ain't!
It's a place I keep returning to time after time since my first introduction back in 1997. Latest visit - July 2012, and still worth every dollar. I love it...
Yoezer Wine Bar: Beef & Wine, the ultimate combination...
Located in an old, charming, Arabic house with thick walls and arches all over, this is a perfect place to gor a glass of wine and some beef. As the name suggests, you can have many great wines by the glass. So, you can compose a great donner with the right glass wine to accompany each course. The menu changes slightly according to season and availability of products but you can always count on good beef and great wines.
