    Tel Aviv-Yafo Things to Do

The Grand Mosque of Yafa, known officially as al-Mahmoudiya Mosque, was built in 1730. It was expanded significantly in 1812 under the governor Muhammad al-Nabbut when the large courtyard and minaret were added. It is said that some Roman columns were re-used in the construction of the mosque. I only walked past it at night and was unfortunately...

  • Dr. Shakshuka

    3.5 out of 5 stars

    Tel Aviv-Yafo Restaurants

The place is supposed to serve authentic shakshuka - a layer of spiced tomatoes and peppers with poached eggs on top of it. What was served was tomatoes/peppers with one egg mixed into it and the other one, still raw (!), on top of it. Service was rude and the bill was too high (they charged more than what was written in the menue). Upon...

    Herzliya Things to Do

Most tourists prefer Herzliya Pituah district (2,5km NW of the railway station) because it has the beach, expensive houses, the marina and many restaurants. After two weeks of touring around famous Israeli towns we preferred to walk around the main town of Herzliya (east of the railway station) and see a normal residential area, after all we just...

    Herzliya Things to Do

Although only 8km west of Raanana the bus took about 45 minutes to reach Herzliya beach as it had to stop in about 30000 different bus stops :) Unfortunately it was impossible to swim that day, when we got off the bus it started to rain so lying on the beach with the dark sky above us didn’t seem very appealing, we took some pictures and returned...

  • Good restaurant for a business meal

    Ramat Gan Restaurants

"Mifgashim" is located near the Kiryat Krinizzi and Tel-Hashomer / Tel-Litvinsky neighborhoods of Ramat Gan. It is very close to the Sheba Medical Center. This is a very good Middle Eastern restaurant, with a nice variety of first courses (stuffed zucchini and peppers, mushrooms, matias herring fillet and potato-filled-"cigars", among others),...

    Ramat Gan Things to Do

The Ramat Gan National Park is very easy (and cheap) to get to by bus from Tel-Aviv: Bus lines 35, 55, 43, 65.See map: whole green area is the park + safari. The area colored in dark green is the park, it's actually a large municipal park with an artificial lake in its center. The light...

  • Authentic Georgian-Style Bread

    Bat Yam Shopping

Walking along Rothschild St. in Bat Yam I saw a modest bakery shop with the sign "Georgian Bread", in Hebrew, Russian and Georgian. I always find ethnic bakeries hard to resist, so I went in.The variety of products was limited: Georgian pita bread, fried bread with meat stuffing. and a few other interesting foodstuffs, including the traditional...

  • Air Force Park

    Giv`atayim Things to Do

On a hill in a residential area in the south of Giv'atayim there is a very pleasant small landscaped park , one of my favorite spots in Giv'atayim. I used to live in the neighborhood in my childhood, and this park holds nice memories. It is dedicated to the Israeli Air Force, and its pride and symbol is an old Fuga Magister plane overlooking the...

  • Sabich

    Giv`atayim Restaurants

Almost everyone coming to Israel knows what falaffel is. But, there are some other fast-food you might want to try. A popular one is an Iraqi dish, called Sabich. It's a deep fried eggplant served with an Iraqi mango sauce called Amba. While this can be found in a lot of places, this place is widely known as the place to get it. This is due to the...

  • Viola Café

    Giv`atayim Restaurants

Givatayim is just a sleeping suburb of Tel-Aviv, not too many restaurants here. Anyway, if you do look for a place to have coffee, a piece of cake and maybe a light meal, Viloa is the place of choice for most locals.

Ramat HaSharon

  • Try the Shrimp in sauce with veggies

    Ramat HaSharon Restaurants

Found in a small boutique shopping "mall" of about 6 shops, it is not a fancy place. They have two small rooms inside, an enclosed and roofed room outside and outside seating under some fruit trees. Very simple tables and no frills with terrible accousitcs, so if you want to talk you have to raise your voice or just listen to what people at the...

  • Mediocre at best...

    Ramat HaSharon Restaurants

It was a summer evening. Four of us sat outdoors, the standing ventillators around us making constant noise. We ordered, and waited. Three of us received what we had ordered, Alex's lasagna failed to arrive. After 10 more minutes and 2 reminders they declared that they had forgotten to prepare it. While they were finally preparing Alex's lasagna...

    Albert's: All the meat dishes

    by Martin_S. Written Apr 18, 2004

Albert's is sort of a modern Israeli "roadside" eatery. The old place was in sort of a chicken house type structure and now the new place is in a modern building with proper seating and reminds you of an American "Steakhouse", like Ponderosa ....

Favorite Dish: All of the meat dishes are fine, the steak was sufficient and even the small salad plates were great that you get to help you pass the time till your meal arrives. Try the different meats on skewers ("shipudiem" in Hebrew).

    Albert's, in Azor, Israel
