Tel-Dan nature reserve

by or_b

The Dan River is the largest and most important source of the Jordan river, also considered to be the most plentiful spring in the Middle East. The circular trail passes along shady trees and streams, there are also some archeological findings in the reserve such as the temple built by King Jeroboam. The city of Laish captured by the tribe of Dan, with the Israelite city gate that has been restored, as has the Canaanite gate, with the earliest constructed arch ever discovered. Also along the trail is a flour mill that was active until 1948.Visiting hours: Everyday- 8:00-17:00 except friday- 8:00-16:00.It is recommended to combine the visit to Tel-Dan nature reserve with Banias Nature reserve and Nimrod's Fortress.

Churches and Monasteries around The Sea of Galilee

by or_b

This is where Jesus walked and performed his Miracles.Start your visit in the tranquil Yardenit site that serves pilgrims to get baptised in the Jordan River. Continue north to the church of Mt. of Beatitudes. The octagonal church was built during the 1930's and it signifies the place where Jesus made his famous sermon on the hillside overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Open: daily 8:00-12:00, 14:30-17:00, small entrence fee.Continue driving up the mountain untill you reach Domus Galilaeae. This church was founded in 2003, and has an amazing architecture, like the statue that is a combination between the Jewish Menorah and the burning bush, the inner court with its natural light and the huge Ten Commandments. Open: daily 9:30-12:30, 15:00-17:00. From here its a short drive to Korazim national park. Korazim was a jewish settlement with a beautiful synagogue made of basalt. Jesus cursed the...

Jerusalem: Ein Kerem

by or_b

Ein Kerem lies high in the mountain in the wetern part of Jerusalem. The village (or nowdays a neighborhood) surrounded by the Jerusalem forest is very pictureque with desirable coffee shops and galleries. However its main attraction is its connection to the routes of Christianity, since it is the birth place of John the Baptist. The visit will start from the church of John the Baptist, the walls of the church are covered with the bless of Bendictus in various languages, this was the bless said by John's father Zachariah the priest at his son's circumcision. Inside the church is the cave where John the Baptist was born. Continue to Mary's spring in the heart of the village, where Mary and her cousine Elizabeth the mother of John the baptist met while they were both pregnant. Mary drank from the spring making its water holy. The route goes upstairs from the spring to the Visitation church...

Float in The Dead Sea

by or_b

Visit the lowest point on earth, a heaven to photographers, and a romantic getaway for couples. As the name implies, nothing can grow or live in the salty waters. When you enter the water its impossible not to float, just be careful not to let the salt enter your eyes. Also any bruise would burn when it gets in contact with the salt, the good part is, that the salt has theraputical qualities and it disinfections your body. A popualr pose is floating on your back reading the newspaper, another common activity is to cover yourself with the natural black mud that is very healthy to the skin, and let it dry in the sun. There are a number of resorts along the dead sea coast especially in the hotel region near En Bokek, also in the northern beaches near Almog junction and the famous En Gedi Spa resort with a miniture train taking the visitors to the beach.

Evalengical Capernaum

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Matthew 11:23:“And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades”.Capernaum was a settlement on the shore of the Sea of Galilee in ancient time. The site is a ruin today, unfortunately. The original name in Hebrew is Kfar Nahum or “Nahum’s village”.The town is mentioned in the New Testament. It was reported to have been the home of the apostles Peter, Andrew, James and John, as well as Matthew.Jesus taught in the synagogue in Capernaum on the Sabbath. In Capernaum also, Jesus healed a man who had the spirit of an unclean devil and healed a fever in Simon Peter's mother-in-law. It is also the place where a Roman Centurion asked Jesus to heal his servant.

Mount of Beatitudes

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Mount of Beatitudes or Mount of Happiness (Osher) - the Hebrew name, based on the Hebrew translation (Beati = Ashrei).According to the tradition, the Mount of Beatitudes is the place where Jesus gave his important sermon on the mountain to the multitude that assembled to see and hear him. A church, monastery, hostel and gardens and farm are located on the hill. The mountain is located above Tabcha- 175 m higher than the Sea of Galilee, yet 35M under the Mediterranean Sea level. The Sermon has verses, each starting with "Blessed the..." or in Latin "Beati ...". The Latin word gave this hill its name - Beati-tudes. The Sermon on the mount focuses on 9 verses: "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after...

Kinneret-Yardenit Baptismal site

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Yardenit is the Baptismal site located at the Southern end of the Sea of Galilee. This place is not far from the where the Jordan River flows out of the Sea on its way down to the Dead Sea.Yardenit is a sacred holy area. People come from all over the world to visit this unique site.According to these texts, the baptism site is probably close to the Sea of Galilee, since all the biblical texts do not describe a long journey from the Galilee to the place of baptism. Thus, Yardenit, or its vicinity, is a logical choice."Yardenit" is sort of a "little Yarden", where "Yarden" is the Hebrew word of Jordan. You can watch my 3min 40 sec HD Video Yardenit - Jordan Baptismal Site L* out of my Youtube channel.
