Petra By Night by diageva The most wonderful place you can go at night is ... and I think one of the most wonderful places in the world ... Petra By Night. On Thursday Petra is open at night, all the Siq is illuminated by candles till the Treasure. There a Bedouin man is playing a flute you can not imagine how magic all this can be. At 20:30 you meet at the entrance of Petra and you must go inside with the group, they recommend not to talk and to go one by one through the Siq, so that nothing lose its mystery, but you know that going in group is always a mess, so just follow the group and try to be the last , and follow the group but keeping a good distance so that you are nearly along between those beautiful pink orange walls I had the great luck to go with Zumodemango that knew, before going there, that this event was going to take place that night ... thanks Zumito Fare: 12 J.D. Wadi Mousa by diageva We had the great luck to make friends the first day, making friends is not difficult with Bedouins, they are the most wonderful people I have ever met. They invited us to eat at a restaurant and after to the mountains of Wadi Mousa, it was full moon that night and you can believe me when I say that I think I have never seen nothing more breathtaking. by Djinn76 In theory, this is only organized every Monday and Tuesday. This is however theory, the first night I was there, I didn’t have anything to do and I simply walked down to the Visitor center to check the place. There was precisely a visit organized this day (Friday!) because some group from a hotel asked for it… The tour leaves from the Visitor’s center around 8h30 and cost about 12JD. If you have the opportunity to do it, jump on it!! The site from the intrance of the siq to the Kazneh is lit with hundreds of little candle in paper bag! I can still hardly believe they set that up for our little group (15-20 persons at most). We first walked trough the dark siq in silence and when we arrived in front of the treasure, we can guess its shape thanks to tens of those little candles. A delicious tea (not a simple mint tea) is offered and the guide starts telling us his story… This is a perfect introduction to Petra. I’m not sure I would have appreciated it so much if I had already spent the day visiting the site… Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Next to Crowne Plaza Hotel and Mövenpick Hotel and very close to Petra's entrance and visitors centre, you can find this bar which is a nabatean cave. Opens till 12 o'clock at midnight, and it's a very nice place where to have a late night drink after a full day visit around Petra. There are also tables outside the cave which can be very nice if the weather is warm enough. Leave a Comment Theme: Nightclub

OK, I didn't see this myself BUT that was only because the last time I was in Petra I was 4 months pregnant, tired from hiking and climbing through the park all day AND it was rather cold at night since we were there in December - HOWEVER....had it not been all of the above, I would have loved to experience Petra at night. Apparently local talent puts on a lovely little cultural show inside the park, with narration and lights....I am sure it must be haunting and beautiful even if it does sound a bit cheesy. Tales of the Nabatean are spun while dances are performed under a canopy of desert stars, amidst the theatre of Petra's rose colored city. It just sounds really romantic and worth an evening (there's nothing else to do in Petra anyways)

The Moon Over Petra... by coceng I looked at the night sky, there's a full moon up there. It was bright but not bright enough for my night photos. It's nice looking at the moon amidst the rock walls of Petra. Too bad that not many people would want to do this... Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Every Monday, Wednesdy and Thursday, the group enters Petra at 10:30 p.m., walks through the candle lit Siq and reaches to the Treasury where Bedouin music is played and a cup of tea is ready to worm you up... A lecture about Petra and the Nabataeans, and then back out again through the Siq, this time it is allowed to take pictures... It is a nice experience, and it only costs 12 J.D., To know more you can email us at traveller86@vtmail.com

Teh bar at the movenpick. by cachaseiro The bar at the movenpick hotel is one of the few options you have if you want to head for a drink in the evening in Petra. Petra is not much of a nightlife place, but it has so many other things that it dosen't really matter. The movenpick bar is quite ok though and can get lively at night and they do have live music and dancing sometimes too.
It's a 5 star hotel, but because it mainly caters to tourists the attitude is quite relaxed when it come to dressing up or down. Leave a Comment Theme: People WatchingDirections: The bar is located at the movenpick hotel right by the entrance to Petra.

As-Siq At Night... by coceng I thought it's time to go. This night excursion around Petra (well, not so much of an excursion anyway as we limit ourself along The Siq & The Treasury) is said to be held on Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday. The best way is ask The Tourist Office or rather The Ticket Office. If you have enough friends with you, they would do it, meaning they would line up candles & playing ancient music for you & your mates... The photo is showing as I walked back...The Candles were still burning... Leave a Comment Theme: Other
