Finally, we reached The Treasury ! There were lots more candles in front of The Treasury. The Treasury during the day is the main photo on this Petra page.
Minutes before that actually, we heard sweet ancient music, wailing, singing...Kinda spooky but nonetheless exotic !

My eyes were looking at the paperbags (as in my photo); Thinking that we were all like that. That flames burning for a short time. Feeling forlorn a bit there.
They do look a bit like flowers yes ?
Well, I have a flowery life, I thought...

On this photo, we could see a couple were enjoying the ambience, the story-telling...
We were allowed to roam Petra at night but The Tour Guide told us that there used to be a place to sleep in Petra years & years ago. Now no more...
Somebody sure would love to make babies in Petra !

We were treated with music...with herbal tea. Nice !
Everybody was sitting quietly & I of course started to smoke anyway.
The Tour Guide was telling us about Petra thousands of years ago. What it was like, what it was making Petra the true civilization of this world.
Look at my photo. The Treasury was not lit at all. You could see part of it...

Right ! I managed to see Petra at night ! We had to pay JD 12 for about 2 hours or walking from The Siq until The Treasury so we were told.
We gathered around The Tourist Office & there were about 16 of us.
You can see some of them on this photo. Everybody was excited but I was kinda moody because all my Petra digital photos (taken during the day) were gone hours before !
People were bringing their cameras & some only their mobiles.
This photo was taken by me because I wanted to test the light.
I used the flash which was stupid as it frightened some old people !
The flash was too strong like there's a big explosion from my camera. "Sorry...", I said to them.
It was NOT brightly lit, you need a special camera to take photos in this kind of setting.
Let see what I could capture with my digital camera.

There are some places to chill out in Wadi Musa Town but I was not that interested.
Only captured this scene which was taken on my way to Petra (for the Night Excursion !). It was brightly lit Wadi Musa !

We were not allowed to talk when walking along The Siq. This would be until we reached The Treasury.
It's funny because we were supposed to feel the ambience of the place how it would be like thousands of years ago.
Actually, we were too busy looking at the almost-dark path that we were walking on, careful not to step on the camels' & donkeys' dung splattered on the ground !

This is the musician who played sweet wailing music on that night.
If you clck the photo bigger, you could see the guy, I hope !
After tea, we could stay or we could leave the place.
I stayed for another 5 minutes...I didn't want to wander further, I was afraid of ghosts !
Normally I don't but in Petra that night, I was !

I looked at the night sky, there's a full moon up there.
It was bright but not bright enough for my night photos.
It's nice looking at the moon amidst the rock walls of Petra.
Too bad that not many people would want to do this...

I thought it's time to go. This night excursion around Petra (well, not so much of an excursion anyway as we limit ourself along The Siq & The Treasury) is said to be held on Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday.
The best way is ask The Tourist Office or rather The Ticket Office. If you have enough friends with you, they would do it, meaning they would line up candles & playing ancient music for you & your mates...
The photo is showing as I walked back...The Candles were still burning...
