Summer & Winter (Luceen): Try this... nice ice cream

by 2Londoners

This small ice cream shop is in the quiet end of Rainbow street, run by a friendly retired gentleman and his daughter who studies english. A good place to enjoy different flavours of ice cream, milkshakes or fresh butter pop corn in the afternoon or evening. It's a bonus too for those who are interested about local people, culture and life in Jordan (something tourists usually do not have access to) - they are friendly and usually happy to talk to tourists and practice their english... The ice cream is good, and you can ask them to make you ice cream shakes (choose your favourite ice cream flavour) or fresh popcorn and candy floss... Prices are also very reasonable. Chocolate and arabia ice cream with pistachio topping - simple scoops of no-nonsense ice cream, great for strolling along the shops around rainbow street and Amman down town. The mango or blueberry ice cream shakes are...

Vegetarians

by antistar

Food in Jordan is largely meat based, with lots of well cooked spit roasts. There are a lot of vegetarian alternatives, but you may find yourself enjoying a regular diet of chickpeas in some form or another, usually either houmous or falafel. The best thing to do is to order a bunch of starters (mezze), which usually offer a wide range of smaller meat free dishes for you to pick and choose from. One thing I found that was universally tasty in Jordan was the lentil soup.Overall Jordan's food was very good, and no problem for a vegetarian.

Canary restaurant: The best falafel

by glassgardener

The BEST place to buy a falafel sandwich is the Canary.Make sure that you get some pickles (pink dyed turnips) and a "haleebe-moss" which is banana and milk smoothie. This place is fast paced first thing in the morning as falafel is breakfast. Women are not supposed to enter so ask a man to go in for you.It costs about a dollar. falafel

Karak Resthouse: Al Karak - A meal near the castle

by MiguelMV

Situated very close to the entrance of the fortress in Al Karak. This restaurant offers a buffet lunch for 9 dinars (drinks not included). The buffet was not the best that we had during our days in Jordan, but was still ok. If the weather is good, you can take a sit outside, and have lunch with the views of the fortress' walls.

The Basin: Lunch in Petra

by MiguelMV

Well ... don't expect a luxury restaurant. It is just a buffet style restaurant with some local dishes. But the good thing is that it's inside the old city of Petra. So it is a very good option for having lunch in the middle of an ancient city. There are tables outside, so you can enjoy of fabulous views while having lunch.

Centro Brasserie: Great Salad bar :P

by ChristinaC

It's one of the best resturants I went to in Jordan. It has a great atmospher! From first sight it might seem expensive, but I was surprised as it was not more than most other nice resturants in Jordan! The food is lovely! and there is alot to choose from! Well I kind of thought that the salad bar was the main menu, as there was alot more than salad, such as pizza's and things, it was more like a buffet lol so I ate too much and couldnt eat anything else :) Though my friend talked me into try some fishy thing, dont know exactly what it was but it tasted GREAT!!!The service is amazing! It's sooo fast! and the staff is friendly and they are there to help you the second you look at them!In the same building there should be a nightclub, which was closed when we were there, because of Ramadan.

Bifa Billa: Strong Coffee and Good Shwarmas

by naruto

A great little cafe that I stopped at for Turkish coffee. Quite yummy and very strong, just the pick-me-up I needed. They have very good shwarmas and hamburgers. They also do milkshakes which I did not try, but looked delicious.Prices are quite reasonable, starting for around 500 fils or 50 piastres.HOURSNoon til Midnight Try the:Shwarmas and Turkish coffeeAnd the milkshakes!

Hani Ali: Oriental Sweets and Ice Cream!

by naruto

Hani Ali is situated in Aqaba on Raghadan Street, about five minutes walk from the Alcazar Hotel where I was staying. It sells traditional sweets, pastries and the ice cream is very delicious. You can say it's a sugar-addict paradise. :)While I had only ice cream, I noticed on the menu that they also have pasta and fish. Breakfast cost about 1-2 JD, very reasonably priced, and the good location is also a good place for afternoon tea where you can people-watch. Ice cream! The traditional Oriental and Arabian sweets on display look luscious and tempting as well!
