The definitive book by Itai Haviv by TheWanderingCamel Canyoning is new in Jordan, but the canyons are gorgeous. "Jumping off the cliff into a pool of warm water" describes it very well! The hot springs are all along the edge of the Rift Valley, most of them are in the unfrequented valleys, running down to the Dead Sea. This is a marvellous activity for sporting people, in good physical condition! It can involve several days, or just one, and it brings you into contact with the local Bedouin as well; They are the only people anywhere near these canyons. Posted by Lulu
If you are doing this without a guide you will need both wet suits and abseiling gear. Pierre Voignier, a French mountain guide, UIAGM qualified, brings groups here each year, and is also based in Wadi Rum when he is not in the canyons. See his website below Leave a Comment Theme: Extreme SportsDirections: There are canyons in the Petra area as wellWebsite: www.lizard-life.com

Entrance of the Royal Diving Centre in Aqaba by dabuwan The Royal Diving Centre is the only structure of this kind in Jordan. It is very well run and you can just use the centre premises (bar, chairs, showers, etc) or you can rent diving gear and join the organized diving sessions or PADI courses of any kind of difficulty. They also rent masks, fins, snorkel and there is a catwalk providing an easy access into the sea right across the coral reef. by Kars (That stone in front, was a normal one 5 mnts ago,try to keep it in water 5 mnts, then take it out,see the difference, covered by salt).. Infact, nothing to describe, cos cudnt see any activity at Jordan side of deadsea, they were building some hotels and at the other side,Israel, they already built some torusitic places. If you dunno swimming this is the place where YOU CAN SWIM,cos you feel how to sleep or just sit ( ! )on the saltiest water (27 %). If you like try to dive,,,i bet you can...
No need any equipment to walk on it...barefoot is ok.. Leave a Comment Theme: Boating/Sailing

At the ancient site of Jerash you have chariot races on a daily basis that are a very good copy of what the romans used to have 2000 years ago. It is actually the best place in the world to view it properly as they are non profit and supported by the royal family so they can show the real thing and not some cheap tourist version like you see in a couple of other places around the world. It takes place once or twice daily and includes some explanation about roman history too and i think it is well worth the 12 jordanian dinars it costs to join it. Leave a Comment Theme: Sports WatchingDirections: The races takes part inside the ancient city of Jeras, so you will need to pay your entry to that place too, but its very interesting and well worth the price.
