Dead Sea

by natsusu

Don't leave Jordan without floating in Dead Sea!!Its surface and shores are 422 metres (1,385 ft) below sea level, the lowest elevation on the Earth's surface on dry land. The Dead Sea is 378 m (1,240 ft) deep, the deepest hypersaline lake in the world. It is also one of the world's saltiest bodies of water. You will find the water is a bit sticky when you touch the water. Maybe I was wrong, but I felt so. There are many dead sea products like Dead Sea Salt, Mud etc... it's good idea to bring dead sea mud pack and spread on your body and wash down in dead sea. There is mud pot offered at Amman Beach, but it stained my swimsuits ( does it contain any chemical color stuff? the color was much darker than the one from the shop ) Anyway this mineral contained mud make your skin smooth and soft, believe me.

Get wet in Wadi Mujib

by natsusu

4 trails are on offer. All trails are guided, except for the Siq Trail. This time we tried Siq Trail which is easiest 2km hike. We were provided life jacket at the entrance and started in relaxed mood, enjoying walking in the shallow water. in 15min we realized that water is getting deeper and it's not easy to walk against running water. When we knew that we couldn't go further without climing up the rocks in the water falls we thought it was the end of the trail, haha but thanks to the people who joined with us (pushing me pulling me encouraging me )we could reach the finall dramatic waterfall! It took more than 2 hours returning the same route. It was fun to walk in the dynamic gorge in the cool air. Water is crystal clear and pleasant. You better wear walking sandals and forget about camera unless you have water proof bag.

Key sights

by Durfun

From the airport to the Dead Sea is about an hour's drive. 70 kms I seem to recall. You'll love floating in the high salinity water ;)Petra deserves a full day, to appreciate the rock-cut caves, etc. it's distance from the Dead Sea is around 220 kms, ie a good 2-3 hours or so.People also try to squeeze in Jerash, time permitting.

by TheAndos

We have just returned from a week in Jordan. Booked with www.jdtours.com - our contact was Ola and she was very responsive and efficient. We had a car and driver and all the arrangements went very well - did 6 nights. Day one arrived in Amman, met at airport, visited old part of Amman. Stayed out west on the 7th circle but it was a 2JD taxi trip to 3rd circle for dinner.Day two: Um Quais, Aljouin castle and JerashDay three: Mt Nebo, Madaba, Kerak, overnight PetraDay four: Petra - go early 7.30am before groups arrive from Aqaba cruise shipsDay five: Little Petra then down to Wadi Rum for afternoon jeep drive and sunset. Over night at Moon Valley www.wadirum.org with Salem and SulimanDay six: visit Aqaba - we didnt' have time to overnight - we went on to the Movenpick at the Dead Sea. Sensational.Pls let me know if you have other questions.

Overnight in Wadi Rum with the Bedouin

by TheAndos

Salem and Suliman welcome you to Rum Village. We had a tour hour jeep tour in the amazing red dessert from 4-6pm. Even in April it would have been too hot to go any earlier. The rock formations look like they have been carved rather than eroded, then we went to the Moon Valley camp to watch the sunset. There are long tents sub-divided into twin bedded rooms, cushions and blankets supplied (we took pillow slips). There is a toilet/shower block. The bedouin cooked a zerb, an bbq covered by sand and we sat by the camp fire drinking tea and smoking sheesha. Everyone took turns at singing.Be very definite at what time you want to be back in Rum Village next morning and where you are being dropped off. Other people got away on time but we were delayed waiting for others in our jeep at the camp, then we had to divert to pick up a camel driver. When we got to Salem's house to settle our account,...

Story of Kahf Arqim

by Shobaki

Story of Kahf Arqim as they written in Quran in Surat Alkahf , where talk about story of 7 sleepers...(8) Or deemest thou that the People of the Cave and the Inscription are a wonder among Our portents? (9) When the young men fled for refuge to the Cave and said: Our Lord! Give us mercy from Thy presence, and shape for us right conduct in our plight. (10) Then We sealed up their hearing in the Cave for a number of years. (11) And afterward We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties would best calculate the time that they had tarried. (12) We narrate unto thee their story with truth. Lo! they were young men who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance. (13) And We made firm their hearts when they stood forth and said: Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. We cry unto no god beside Him, for then should we utter an enormity. (14) These, our...

Tour operator and dive shop for Jordan

by Karenjyuan

Planning a trip to any foreign country is what you have to do well. Choosing a reputable tour operator is also one of the most time consuming and frustrating parts of the whole traveling experience. There are so many operators in the market that it becomes a nightmare finding one that will be right for you. In the past, I relied heavily on reviews from previous travelers and most have just fallen short of being really helpful. In September of this year (2009) my boyfriend and I took a much anticipated trip to Jordan. It was the first time traveling to the Middle East for both of us and among the various sites Jordan has to offer we were sure we wanted to go to Petra, the Dead Sea and scuba dive in the Red Sea. Through the recommendation of our diving friend, I began my email correspondence with the dive shop Seastar and its sister tour operator Above and Below. Seastar...
