I bought a t-shirt with Kuwait Towers drawing on it for my friend as a souvenir from Kuwait and he asked me,`What the hell is that?`:-)) Well, it may not be seen as the same as other towers anywhere. This is the trademark of Kuwait, it will be on any of Kuwait souvenirs.. mug, t-shirt, handcrafts, book, cards, towel, etc. So YOU HAVE TO COME TO KUWAIT TOWERS when you visit Kuwait!!See the website for the towers history and details. The entrace fee will be 1KD and keep your ticket for the viewing sphere. The kids under 4years old will not be charged. Kuwait towers have 3towers but the main attraction will be in the main/highest tower. It has the 2levels of viewing sphere (9AM-12MN) and some restaurants (a cafe will be opened at 8AM, see the pic of the welcome board), lower level than the viewing sphere. You may reach them with the lift and the operator will be there for you. You can just tell him if you want to go to the restaurants first or straight to the viewing sphere. The toilet will be facing the main tower`s gate, next to the lift. The lift will be up to the 1st level of viewing sphere, and you have to go by the stairs to reach to the 2nd level. You will see a small cafe there and eat your meal on the table, located on the full round floor, rotating every 30minutes to see the view of Kuwait. You may get coins (250fills each) at the cafe to use the telescope too. The name of the place you are seeing on the glass-wall, will be printed there, in arabic and english. The main tower is 187m height, the second one (water reservoir) is 147m, and the shortest one (electricity control) is 113m.It was officialy opened on March 1,1979, made by Sure Linstrom. Great beach and park at the surrounding area. If you will bring your kids, it will be fun for them to bring their bikes, roller blades to play around or perhaps beach gear when the weather is nice. Whenever somebody will go to Sharq Market (Shouq Sharq), the ocen site`s main attention will be the sunset and the yachts, parking in the front of the mall. Try something new, the original ones ! Take a walk till the back side of fish market (from the back of Sharq Mall to the palace`s direction) and observe the traditional fishermen. It is such a nice experience to see the traditional boats with the city schene as the background. Check out the pictures. You may see boats without names all along the beach but they proudly display the Kuwait`s flag as their pride to keep the local tradition. The best time will be late afternoon, just before the sunset. Great sunset on that site and great time for sailing. Everybody in Kuwait knows Marina Mall but only some love to go to the other end of the main marina mall building, THE CRESCENT SIDE.You may go to this place by crossing the street through a bridge from Marina Mall.It is located at the cross of Harley Davidson counter and beside Cinabon stand and Virgin Megastore (the book section).You can go there directly too, just across the Marina Mall on the Gulf Arabian Street.I may tell it is the best place for you to see sunrise in Kuwait.Some yachts will be parking at its shore and lots of cuisine varieties are available there.It is nice for family picnic.The beach is clean and safe.It has some basketball courts and big parking lots.This side is the perfect place for jogging or walking.From this place you may just walk for 5-10minutes to Hard Rock Cafe.A lovely windy beach for you during summer and a lovely restaurants treat with great views during winter.

If you like seafood,fish market will be the most convenient place to shop in.It is relocated at Sharq seaside,beside Shouk Sharq.It has big parking lot, you can enjoy the nice view around.Fish market itself is clean and fully airconditioned.You should bargain whenever you buy anything there and you can ask them to clean the fish you had bought.Shrimps,crubs,and squids wont be find all the time as there will be some special months for selling them.When you want to buy more,you can get porters there to bring your troley.Ask the porters first for their fee.You should get a pile or basin in your car to put your fish or whatever you buy there so the things you had bought won`t spoil your car. Friday market is Kuwait`s flea market.You can find the second hand things here for good deal.There are some new items for furnitures,clothes,and carpets too with good prices,though furnitures quality is poor.Good carpets can be found here with reasonable price and good quality.One more thing,you should bargain here for all the things.It is newly renovated from the messy and hot flea market before.You can do shopping conveniently now with more options to see.The entrance will be full of mud for now since the renovation still going on for the parking place.Friday market will be opened from Thursday afternoon untill Saturday afternoon.The best time to go for shopping is Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning,where you still get good items and the place will not be crowded.You may get the good price on Friday though.It is located in Shuwaikh,near Reggae area.There will be many porters with big trolley if you want to buy many things.Just bargain the price with them first before you get one. Bring water and kleenex/tissue paper with you. It will not be a convenient shopping during the rain or sandstorm. Directions: The entrance will be located at the 4th Ring Road.When you are going to Salmiya area through fourth ring road, you will find the entrance gate between the plant nurseries (AL-RIHAB and AL-JAWHARAH) on your right,right before DREAM MALL/Lulu Supermarket.

Mall is the only place you can enjoy in Kuwait when the temperature will reach 50`C.Kuwait has good malls,especially with the beach view like Marina mall,Soukh Sharq,and Al Kout Mall.All of them has nice food courts and cafes with the beautiful view of Kuwait beaches.The most important thing,it is a safe place for everybody.You can rent a yacht and roaming around the mall,you can go for fishing,or just sit yourself watching sunset there. Dress up for the malls !! The Kuwait beach malls are the best ones among other malls, you may see well fashioned local people here too. Dont be shy to put your make up on girls, many Kuwaiti girls will spend hours in beauty pailors before going to the mall. Getting There: End of the Fourth Ring - well that is what the maps say, but it's not so simple. 4th ring ends and you have to do a series of left / rights / and left /rights to get there, but it's on the water and you really can't miss it. Well, we missed it 3 times, but that's not the point. You will find it. You'll have plenty of time to find it. You're in Kuwait. You have nothing but time! It's kinda like the Statue of Liberty of NYC or Eiffel Tower of Paris or London Eye of London. When in Kuwait, you simply feel compelled to visit the Water Towers. You pay a fee. (I think it was like $3USD if not less) Has Air Con. Decent views, 360 degrees, to boot. It was worth it. It rotates on the top observation deck. There is a cafe at a lower height, and it's free. Trust me, we were tempted to just do the Free Cafe Look See, but decided to pay the $3USD and go all the way. You should too: you get the 360 degree unobstructed view ONLY from the top observation deck.
Historical facts: The concept of the Towers began 1962; Construction started in 1975 and was completed by 1979. The three towers were built for multi-purpose operations. One, the needle shaped tower, provides electricity to the suburbs in Kuwait. The Second, middle, tower stores up to one million gallons of water. Kuwait zoo will be one of the alternatives you may choose for outing when the weather is good. It is a small zoo but will be quite fun for the kids though, with its road train and camel riding. The extreme weather of Kuwait (especially on summer) could not accommodate all types of the animals for the zoo and we can understand that. All the animals will be in the cages (quite small to live in) and fed appropriately. There is a part of the zoo for playground and family picnic but you have to keep your food in the locker area before entering the animal section of the zoo. The entrance fee will be 0.500 KD during holiday and 1 KD for working days. The opening hours will be from 8AM to 8PM. The time will be changed during Ramadan/fasting month. There is one inconvenient thing about the Kuwait zoo you have to know, the unpleasant stinky smell reaches the parking area. Besides that, only a few staff can speak English well. Sadly to say that the cages have easy accesses to the crazy visitors to torture the animals too. It is located in Omariya, nearby the intersection of 5th ring road and Jahra Road.
