Why not go scuba diving in Beirut

    Scuba diving in Beirut? I know it's not like the Red sea but for me (who have done most of my dives in the Red Sea) this was a new experience.
    I dived with the NISD (National Institute for Scuba Diving) located in the Rivera Hotel (where you can also spent a day by the pool).
    During the two dives I did we didn't see so many things, a moray and some fishes. But we made a nice drift dive. Sometimes you see sharks.

    You can rent the equipment at the diving centre. One dive with full equipment is 30 dollars.

Also available: skates rental and instructions, hockey games, special events (including international figure-skating exhibitions). Cool down at one of the snack bars or bars outlets in the arena.

    The Golf Club of Lebanon is the successor by merger to the Beirut Sporting Club which was established in Beirut by Foreign residents from the US. The Club is a non-profit organization of Public nature.Membership in the Club so far is around 800 of different categories Family including Dependent Children, Men Single, Ladies Single, Overseas (For those originally full members). Yearly Club guests for nonresidents only; foreign visitors to Lebanon are accepted without sponsor paying entrance and sports fee. Currently there are many Tournaments in the Year for Competitions sponsored by various Organizations as well as the Club; this is beside our Monthly Golf Medal for Men and Ladies and the Golf Championship for the Club. An average of 75-100 participants are recorded.We have currently six Tennis courts all from soft clay. We are studying the possibility to convert one of them to an all weather. The most important function for improvement is the standard of service and expansion of facilities.The Golf course at its present location was originally inaugurated in October of 1965 as a 9 hole course grassed and treed from scratch on government property. In 1973 a further piece of property was acquired and enlarging the course to 18 holes. These were formally inaugurated in 1985.On the Course, we use permuda mixed with rye and zoizia japonica on the greens. The total area covered by the course is approximately 300,000 Square Meters. There are 3 artesian wells feeding the first 9 holes and 3 feeding the new 9. Irrigation is entirely underground by manual sprinklers. The water is slightly saline but well within limits.On the Golf Course we have 50 employees and a backup of daily employees approximately 25 during the summer period; other employees are of course available for the Tennis, Squash, Changing room as well as Administration and Stores totalling approximately 25.

    • St.George Hotel is a newly renovated Hotel in Beirut,it was the elite back in 70`s.It was distroyed in the civil war,but now it is renovated,it has Beirut`s boats and yachts marina.

    Swim suites,sun screen lotion and a pair of shorts;-)

    Riviera Beach Club - free for the hotel guests, otherwise membership needed.

    St Gearge Yacht club - has a marina , nice swimmingpool, jet skis, restaurants and grass on witch to strech out.
