    Around Tell Square in Tripoli...

I was then back to Tell Square where my hotel was situated. There are more activities around this square & all my photos below would be from this area.
On the square, we could see people talking, smoking neglijeh (water pipe), quite lively really.
It's also a place where you can take taxis & even at night, drivers ask you where you would want to go etc etc.

    My Schwarma Place in Tripoli...

I was kinda hungry so i had to buy the schwarmas ! I love it ! I love the beef in it...not so much the chicken though.
In Baalbek (please click), I had my schwarma with mutton but I somehow couldn't find it around the north of Lebanon...Wonder why ?
The photo is showing where I bought my schawarma in Tripoli...

    Around Tell Square at Night...

In Tell Square, even shops are opened late for late shoppers.
I walked pass of them all not buying anything, talking with some people. Mostly about me & my country...& of course about Malaysia's last Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamed; All of them he's a good man !
I said back, "Well, I'm a good man too !"...

    Night Scenes Around Tripoli...

    Some Stalls in Tripoli...

I love Tripoli so it's time for me to discover the night scenes.
After taking my shower, went out & passed these stalls selling watches, necklaces. Didn't buy anything so it looks like the scene from around my country where we can pass by some stalls selling cheap & 'local' Malaysian souvenirs.
Oh yes ! I also passed some VCD stalls (selling 'pirate' VCDs of course) & the owner even told me that they got some 'supplies' from Malaysia !
    We just laughed...

    Tell Square in Tripoli...

Then, I went to this square called Tell Square or Saahat et-Tall. many people there, lounging around.
There's a clock tower looming high.
Under the clock tower there are some guys who chatted me up; Asking about me & my country & I asked them back about Syria as I would be going there soon.
They said they didn't think much about Syria but always had a soft spot for that country.
    I just nodded my head.

    The Clock Tower in Tripoli...

Took a photo fo the clock tower...dunno the name.
Underneath the tower, there are some tea stalls & also many taxis for some destinations around Tripoli & maybe around Lebanon.
There's a garden behind the clock tower as well but it's closed at night !
Otherwise, there would be some activities judging from the 'happenings' under the clock tower !

    The Clock Tower in Tripoli...

This is well, the clock tower amidst some trees...I was actually trying to peek some 'movements' in the garden !
The clock tower is brightly lit at night so it's a good point to see if you are lost around this side of Old Tripoli.

    The Great Mosque in Tripoli...

This is The Great Mosque; Construction began in 1294 & completed 21 years later.
It was built on the foundation of a 12th-century Crusader cathedral, called St. Mary Of The Tower, which was destroyed by The Mamluks...

    The Great Mosque in Tripoli...

This is the minaret which is likely from the original building. If you have Lonely Planet guidebook on Lebanon, you will come to a name called Ali Khawaja, who's so knowledgable about this mosque & anything in Tripoli.
He's been living in Switzerland for years & came back to Tripoli because he loves the town so much !
You can easily meet him around this mosque...

    Al Burtasiya Mosque in Tripoli...

After that, you can walk straight to the river called Nahr Abu Ali & you would see another old mosque.
    This one is called Al-Burtasiya & it's also a madrasah (a school).
It was built by the Kurdish prince in 1315.
When I was there, I wanted to enter the mosque but was not granted ! I was tired telling them that I am a Muslim & moved on...
If they were not interested for another Muslim to see their mosque, it's fine by me ! Huh !

    If They Ask...

    Al Burtasiya Mosque in Tripoli...

It's always like that during my Middle East trip !
They wouldn't let me in to some mosques maybe they thought I was a white guy or something ! They were so blind to see my dark skin or something !
Even people who have their skin white are also could be Muslims !
All they could do was just ask, "Are you a Muslim ?"
Anyway, I crossed the river & took another snap of The Al Burtasiya Mosque, kinda like the colourful windows !

You could see abit of it from my photo though.
Only the residential area around is was lit up...but you could see the photo anyway.

    Night Snacks In Tripoli...

Also, there are vendors selling snacks at night with their trolleys. The snacks are mostly nuts, some fruits & dates.
I didn't feel like munching anything on that night. Just taking photos of them...
