This is the statue of Virgin Mary, in the highest point of the mountain, a great place for the mother of God to protect the city of Beirut.
I climbed the steps and reached the pick.
And just take a look from there!

I liked BO18 and a place...
I liked BO18 and a place called Options. A bit formal and rigid, but they were OK places. I _loved_ the small places in Jounie just outside Beirut, especially a place called 'Overdose' which really kicked ass. During one evening at that place, I met more people than I have ever befriended at one place ever. At the end of the evening, I ended up behind the bar, helping the owner and getting paid in Tequila. 'Overdose' was a pretty small place, and I dont know if its still there. If its not, something similar has probably popped up.
Also, in Hamra in downtown Beirut, things were picking up again in 1997. There could be some nice spots there now.
'Overdose' truly rules, despite its rather worrying name. It is the perfect place to meet people and make friends.
Dress Code: Not overdressed.

Up from there!
This is the modern big church near the statue of Virgin Mary, on the top of the mountain.
It is really lovely; when I entered they were busy in a religious ceremony!
Mosque: Lights of the City
This is the loveliest Mosque in Beirut!
It's on the road of the Kornish!
I liked the way it's lighted at night!
Its really very beautiful!
Don't miss it once you're in Beirut.
Lutz_H's Nightlife Tip
The great food and the always 'unavoidable' water pipe (with or without 'special ingredients' - whatever your preferences are).
Anywhere in Beirut, Achrafieh,...
