Beirut has lots of places to offer you a great night out. Unfortunately I've only been to private parties at family and friends. But you can go to concerts and cinemas, restaurants with live music. People do tend to dress better at night.

I liked BO18 and a place...

I liked BO18 and a place called Options. A bit formal and rigid, but they were OK places. I _loved_ the small places in Jounie just outside Beirut, especially a place called 'Overdose' which really kicked ass. During one evening at that place, I met more people than I have ever befriended at one place ever. At the end of the evening, I ended up behind the bar, helping the owner and getting paid in Tequila. 'Overdose' was a pretty small place, and I dont know if its still there. If its not, something similar has probably popped up. Also, in Hamra in downtown Beirut, things were picking up again in 1997. There could be some nice spots there now.'Overdose' truly rules, despite its rather worrying name. It is the perfect place to meet people and make friends. Not overdressed.

This is the modern big church near the statue of Virgin Mary, on the top of the mountain.It is really lovely; when I entered they were busy in a religious ceremony!
