Taxi! Service! or tourist bus

by uglyscot

In Beirut the easiest method of travel is taxi but this can be expensive. A cheaper way is to ask for Service. The taxi will then accept you if you are going in his direction, and will pick up other passengers on the way. Fare for Service is 1000LL.Also available is mini buses which follow routes round the city. If one is going to your destination it will cost 500LL.For tourist travel within Lebanon it is wiser to use a tourist company. Buses may not necassarily be full ,as long as there are a reasonable number of passengers the tour will take place.I used NAKHAL. It also has a more expensive private limousine service. The compny will collect you from your hotel. A guide speaking English, French and Arabic accompanied us and gave detailed information along the route as well as at the sites themselves. Some tours are full day trips, others half day.Not all tours are available everyday, and...

A cheap way to move around!

by marimar_72

The buses in Lebanon are considered one of the cheapest way to move around,,you only have to know the routes of each one...Ask any local person they will be very delighted to help you.It costs about 500 Lebanese Lira(about 1/3 of a $) per ride within one route.

around lebanon

by call_me_rhia

there are several ways to get around Lebanon. The cheapest is by bus - but you can also use minibuses, shared taxis 8service) or private taxis. Buses leave from Charles Helou station in Beirut for Tripoli and some cities in the south: you can also get shared taxis to Syria from here. Minibuses leave from Cola station (Beirut) for Baalbeck and some cities in the south. Shared taxis - within cities - usually cost 1000 Lebanse pounds per person - private taxis 5000. And by the way - you recognize a taxi by its red license plate

cars and busses

by xaver

We maily moved from Beirut to the other places we wanted to visit by private car as they were not too expensive and, above all, having not so much time available, they were the best choice. We just toke the bus on our way back from Tripoli to Beirut and it was funny as, the sign on the bus, the time table, the seats number and everything else were written in arab, but a man in front of the bus shouting Ale Beirouttt made clear to everyone where the bus was directed. The tiket was incredibly cheap, less than one dollar and, only now, thank to my friend marimar translation, I can understand that it was a special offert for Ramadan month!

flyght

We flew from Rome to Beirut with Middle east airline, a really good company, apart for the fact that they practically rmeind you to have a diet with their incredibly small seats, and they also would like you to not be lazy as their flyght from Beirut leaves at 6.30 am!Middle east a company to better your life style :-)

Boat trips

by MalenaN

In the harbour in Jbail (Byblos) there are a few boats for sight-seeing.Whene I was there my second time I think the waves were to high for the boats to go on a tour, but a group with school children came and probably they had been looking forward to the tour. The boats with the school children went back and forth through the harbour opening, jumping on the waves. Hearing their shouts and cheering I think they had a fun time.

Buses

by hajar1979

definitely the way to go-still have fond memories of waiting for buses on charles helou avenue and buying one of those huge, inflated pastried they sell by the roadside and some orange juice for breakfast.smoking is allowed in the van but other than that, i love the buses in lebanon. a definite adventure travel for someone who hasn't travelled much, much less on her own. could not BELIEVE i was in lebanon every minute i was there.

Road from Bcharre to Baalbeck

by sachara

From the ski resort the Cedars a road is leading through the mountains to the Beeka Valley. The road is only open in the summer months. When we visited the Cedars end April, we had a good look at the road from the parking lot in the Cedars and saw that the road was still covered with snow. After Bcharre was Baalbeck in the north of the Beeka Valley our next stop, but we had to make a detour, back to Beirut at the coast and from there we could cross a lower part of the mountains to the Beeka Valley.

Bus

by dr.firas

Bus to take you in a group tour is really a good solution to make a roam in the most famous places in Lebanon! The only bad thing that you have to obey the graphic,But after the daily program and in every evening you can be free and do what ever you want.
