Car, taxi, buses

by raniou

Well the best way would be by car ( your own car or a rental one or by taxi). There's also buses. It is efficient specially that there's no bus station; so wherever you find a bus it can stop , pick you up and then stop wherever you want on his way.Motorcycling is quite unsafe because Lebanese have their own crazy way of driving. And on peak hours it can be traffic jams on the main roads.

Taxi for a day

by MalenaN

If you don't want to go by public transport or have little time, you can rent a taxi for a day. Be sure to negociate the price before.I and three other persons from the hotel where I stayed went with a taxi one day to south Lebanon. We paid 20 dollar each (lunch included) for the route Saida (to get the permits from the military), Beaufort Castle, Khiam, Kfar Khila and Qana. On the way back to Beyrouth we stoped for 15 minutes at closeingtime at the Hippodrome in Sour so that the person who hadn't been there before could see it.

by aeroarce

You could get easily from many european airports.there is a bus crosing from Damascus-vv and another bus goes from the cosast (Beyrouth-Lattakia) stopping at tripoly and Tartous, that permits you to cross the border easily.getting around the country is fairly easy, there are buses every where and iven to the most remote areas, always check with the driver where you go, sometimes the sites are before or after the bus stop or between cities, so if the driver knows where you go the'll let you know when to go down. also you can hire taxis, it will be more expensive but quicker.

Service Taxi

by MalenaN

Service Taxi is a taxi you share with other people. If the taxi is empty when you stop it, ask if it is a servic. It is much cheaper than a normal taxi. If the fist service taxi you stop is not going your way you just stop the next one.Going around in Beirut is 1000 LL. But as all taxis had to change from disel (which is cheaper) to gas engines they sometimes want more. For a longer run you sometimes have to pay 2000 LL.

As Lebanon is a small country it is very convenient to stay in Beirut and make daytrips to other parts of the country from there. If you have stoped a bus along the way going back to Beirut this is were the bus often stops. From here you can take a minibus to Charles Helou for 500 LL.Cola: From here you take the buses to Baalbeck and the south.Saida (Sidon): 750 LL (big local bus), 1000 LL (small bus), 1500 LL (bus with AC).Sour (Tyre): 1500 LL or 2000 LL depending on bustype.Damour: 750 LL - 1000 LLBaalbeck: 3000 LL (in...

Taxis take you everywhere

by daaaniel

Since Lebanon is a small country, it's easy and fast to get to most of the attractions. In fact, you should be able to reach all major towns within two hours from Beirut. Private taxis are cheap (US$10 Beirut-Tripoli) and service taxis are even cheaper. Buses also run between Beirut and major towns.

by Lebanese

The easiest way to get to Lebanon is by airplane. But you have the option to get by road from Syria or by boat from Cyprus (to Jounieh which is 20 km away from the capital)You can use the 'service' or taxi which is a car that you share with others for a reasonable price 1 USD per destination within the city (Beirut). For visits outside Beirut, you need either to rent a car (but it's preferable to make a booking ahead of time and none will be available on the spot) or go through local touristic companies for voyages to touristic sites in Lebanon
