The Tyr Race will take place on Sunday, June 4, 2006 and will encompass a Half Marathon distance (open to participants aged 16 and older), as well as a 5km race for participants aged 11 years and older.
Start Time: 9.00 am sharp
Starting and Finishing Points: Hippodrome of Tyre
You have to fill in a registration form and submit it at one of the following registration points:
- BMA Office in Hazmieh
- LibanPost branches around Lebanon
- Virgin Megastore around Lebanon
- Tyr Municipality
A photocopy of a valid ID card (Passport) with you for registration.
Registration fees are:
Half Marathon = 10,000 LBP (eq. 7 USD)
5 KM = 3,000 LBP (eq. 2 USD)
Equipment: Make sure your prepared for a day in the sun.

Sour or Tyre is the place to spend the perfect day at the beach. Contrary to what you may hear about this city being a conservative place where you cannot wear a bikini, short skirts, etc.. Tyre is very open-minded when it comes to what you wear (believe me, I spent all my summers there and Im Lebanese). If you love sand, and sandy shores, then you can go to the sandy shore..if you like to walk on rocks, and go scuba diving and watching sea creatures and little fishies pass by, then you can head more towards the west of tyre (very close to the al-mina ruins site), and spend a day on the rocky shore of tyre.
Of all the places I've went swimming at in Lebanon, it is in Tyre that I feel at home, and enjoy spending a day at the beach. You can also head out to the Rest House, where you can go swimming in the sea, or in the pool, whatever your heart desires!
Equipment: Just some sun-screen, a nice bathing suit and sunglasses ;)
