There is a remains of an old British runway at the town of Ras Al Hadd. It is for a British airbase here during World War 2 where planes took off for the African campaign. The airbase is no longer around and you can hardly notice the runway. Unfortunately I did not take a photograph of the runway but would share with you a nice photograph of the bay near to this runway.
There is a small desert as you approach Ras Al Hadd and it is worth stopping to take some photographs. There was some heavy rain a few days before I went there, which is why you can see water in this photograph.
Some parts of the coastline along Sur, Ras Al Hadd & Ras Al Jinz can be very rugged but they are very beautiful which provide good views of the Arabian Sea.
There are several coastal towns near to Sur, Ras Al Jinz and Ras Al Hadd which are worth a stop to have a feel of the traditional and relaxing atmosphere of the people living here.
During low tide, you should explore the rich marine life on the pools of water which remain. You can see small fishes, crabs, crustaseans and many other colour creatures.
