Amouage Perfume Factory, Muscat
Saw this on the tourist map and thought it might be an interesting place to see. The tour was free of the small perfume factory where everything is done by hand! The guide explains how the perfumes are made and shows you where they are produced and you see the bottles being filled and packaged by the small workforce. These perfumes are some of the most expensive in the world and you can purchase the boxed ones there at the factory. The oils are sold in other outlets in two of the malls. I particulary like the desert rose one but it was very expensive!
This small perfume factory is producing one of the best perfumes in the world. They have a showroom so you can visit them.
In 1983, His Highness Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud al bu Said, had a dream to restore the great Arabian art of perfumery to the region. This resulted in Amouage- the most valuable perfume in the world. The first Amouage fragrance, was created by the legendary French parfumeur Guy Robert., the legendary 'nez' of France, was given the task of creating the world's most valuable perfume. No expense was spared, as he put his heart and soul and generations of family experience into the composition of Amouage
