Of a recent and more symbolic construction, the Muscat Gate signals the arrival into Old Muscat. It was built in a traditional Omani style over Al-Bahri Road, the main road linking Old Muscat to Matrah. The structure over the gate houses the Muscat Gate House Museum, which focuses on the history of Muscat and its royal family.
Muscat Gate Museum is located in Al Saidiya Street.
The museum was built upon the site of the mountain outcrop that once defined the historical boundary of Muscat city.
The museum is open from Saturday to Thursday. (Unfortunately I came on Friday)
From the top you can have view to the city scenery (rocky mountain and the beach) View is beautiful from here.
Muscat Gate Museum is in a modern version of a city gate, built across the Al Mina road towards the town of Mutrah.
