Al-Fareed Tourist Restaurant: indian and arabic

  • It is located across the road from Omar al-Khayyam.
There is an extensive Indian menu, and an Arabic/Indian buffet on Thursday evenings.
Omani-style food is also served in private screened off areas.

We shared hummus and arabic bread, and poppadums and mango chutney for starters.
Then boys had Omani lobster which looked delicious.
And I had the homemade tomato soup which was yummy, followed by chicken tikka masala which was spicy with big pieces of chicken breast meat and garlic naan bread.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel's Dolphin Beach Restaurant is a great place to eat. It is quite expensive, but he food is excellent and the beachside setting is perfect. There is a different themed buffet every night of the week. They are as follows:

    Saturday: Far Eastern
    Sunday: Lebanese
    Monday: Seafood
    Tuesday: BBQ
    Wednesday: Italian
    Thursday: Omani
    Friday: BBQ

At the seafood buffet, lobster is available for an extra OR 3 per person. Alcoholic drinks are also available and typically cost between OR 2.5 and 2.8 for a pint of draft beer, a glass of wine or a cocktail. The Mai Tai is outstanding.

If you want a good table right next to the beach, you'll need to make a reservation, using the number given below.

Woodlands Restaurant: Indian at the Airport

Somewhat surprisingly one of Salalah's best restaurants and one of the few licensed to sell alcohol, is at Salalah Airport. Woodlands Restaurant serves high quality Indian food as well as draft Heineken and a good range of wines. There are smoking and non-smoking sections. It seems to be particularly popular with Indian businessmen.

My impression of the food was that there was an excellent chef working with a very limited budget. The sauces were made from well-blended fresh herbs and spices, but the meat and seafood ingredients were poor.

  • This is a popular place in the evenings with good Indian and Chinese food.
It has airconditioning which isn't in all establishments in Salalah.
    Service was polite and efficient.
The restaurant was nothing fancy, but clean and tidy.

We had chicken korma, palak paneer with garlic naan bread and mango lassi.

  • Restaurant is located within the Hilton Salalah resort, right be the beach.

Food is excellent and the setting, lights, atmosphere are wonderful. It is an open air restauramt/bar, they play Buddha Bar music which gives a +++ to the place.

They have set also 3 tents right by the beach for private tete-a'-tete dining.

    It is a must see/try

Absolutley the Seafood grill and their tasty mezzas.

  • Pizza Hut, numerous Indian cafes and shwarma stalls are located along As-Salam Street.
All the chain hotels have good restaurants and cafes with Western cuisine, but priices are expensive.

  • The main restaurant has a buffet area and a la carte dining.
Service is excellent and the decor is very stylish.

We had freshly baked breat with NEW ZEALAND Anchor butter which was the best. Then I had an old-fashioned burger with chips and coleslaw which was enormous and tasted great. Followed by a sublime New York-style baked cheesecake with passionfruit and raspberry coulis.

A great location opposite the beach (no view of the beach though); food is high quality and very well priced.

Dishes include Indian, Chinese and Middle-Eastern style cuisines and fresh juices.

Seafood is included in the menu and is very well priced.

A whole fresh Omani lobster for $16 - wish they had wine to go with it!

Baalbeck Restaurant is one of the most attractive downtown restaurants. It is also one of the best places to eat both Lebanese cuisine and seafood.

The baba ganoush with pomegranate is a very nice starter.
