1) The black banners are those of Islamic Jihad, why I wonder what party's is the all-red flag. Does anybody know?2) The yellow flag of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades (the military wing of the ruling Fatah movement) foisted on a rooftop of a house in Jabaliya. 3) The green and yellow colours of Hamas and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades go comfortably together.
1. Entrance to the Great Al Omari Mosque, located close to town market in the Gaza City. Here is information on this Mosque taken from the website of Tourist Bureau of the Gaza Municipal Cener: "Al Omari is the biggest (4.100 m²) and one of the oldest mosques in the Gaza Strip. It was probably built on the spot of a temple dedicated to successive idols: the Canaanite god of fertility Dagon and Marnas the city’s deity whose temple was believed to be one of the most glorious ever built. In the 5th century, the Christians built a large church later demolished during the Persian invasion. In 1149, the crusaders built a cathedral to John the Baptist on the ruins of a mosque but in 1187, as Gaza returned to Islamic rule, the church was once again changed into a mosque.
