 | Doha Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 67 | | Thursday nights at the Movenpick is Italian night and I wouldn't miss it for the world. They have an excellent buffet or you can order a meal for a reasonable price. The vino rosso is surprisingly outstanding, although I can't comment on the white wine as I haven't had any yet. My favorite is the lasagna, which is better than (dare I say it) some I had in Italy. Buon appetito!
The lasagna! Served in a large Iron skillet, the top layer is covered in cheese and it is roughly five layers thick. Great stuff! Leave a Comment

Turkey Central is a large, no frills eatery very popular with locals. There is a large seating area upstairs, as well as a family room where women on their own might be more confortable. The main dishes are the standard Middle Eastern dishes that you find everywhere here, very heavy on grilled meat. The meat is good and comes in very large portions, but what I really love about this place is the mezze. You can order a mixed plate to show if you are with several people. The mezze are on display behind the glass case downstairs, so you could even pick out which ones you wanted in your mix. The bread that comes with it is great too, and it's all very cheap. This Lebanese restaurant is well-established in Beirut and recently opened a branch in Doha in early 2006. The ambience is great with waiters in traditional dress, collections of coins from various countries underneath the glass tabletops, decorated swords and muscats hanging on the walls, and beautiful stone masonry with elegant carvings. The menu is fairly extensive, encompassing both standard Lebanese fare and Italian and other Western dishes. A less extensive menu is available for takeout, and they offer free delivery. Sheesha is also available here. As everywhere in Doha, there is construction all around, but there is valet parking so you don't need to worry about finding a place to park; just drive straight up to the entrance and an attendant will meet you. The website seems to apply mainly to the Beirut location, but the menu is the same, although the prices aren't given in Qatari riyals on the website.
I had the smoked salmon, which was quite nice and comes with toast and garlic paste. We also had a wonderful appetizer; I'm not sure what it was called but it was a hot dish of I think eggplant (aubergine) with chick peas and pine nuts. The fruit cocktail called "Flamingo" is also excellent. a) two-floor restaurant b) clean and quiet c) not crowded. d) lot of food variety (based on what is listed in the menu) e) service is fast I am not so familiar with Thai foods. I don't even have the chance to eat even once when I was in Manila. They said Thai food are so spicy but I think they are not that spicy.

This chain of restaurants USED to be right on the Doha bay at the end of the Doha Harbour. Their fresh selection of local seafood is wonderful and their chef's prepare traditional Middle Eastern style dishes as well as French. It is well worth it. Now this local chain has moved to the "new" souq area just behind the old fort. To end your time off you can smoke a sheesha and relax with an Arabian coffee or mint tea.
Any of the dishes that I had here were exceptional. THey seem to mix Asian with Middle Eastern flavors for a unique taste to all their dishes. If you do not enjoy seafood there are other dishes you may choose from and an array of mixed starters or desserts. The staff is so wonderful here. It is a chain restaurant that is located in a few places around Doha. So worth the visit. The food is fantastic and they can accomodate large groups. Some of their menu items are available in large sizes for that purpose.
Definitely try the mixed starters and mixed sampler. It is so worth it and will give you a taste of a lot of different traditional Middle Eastern dishes as well as some Qatari local dishes. This beautiful building set right on Doha Bay is built in a traditional architectural style, complete with a wind tower (a way of cooling the buildings before the invention of air conditioning). A hotel is being built next door in the same style. They have a full menu of Middle Eastern food, but they also serve drinks and sheesha so it's a great place just to come relax with a smoke and a coffee or light snack in the afternoons. There is a QR 25 minimum per person. Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageDirections: At the far southern end of the Corniche just after museum roundabout. Al Bandar is actually a set of three restaurants, which are in three buildings right next to each other, all of which are shaped like dhows, the traditional wooden fishing boats seen in the harbour nearby. One restaurant serves seafood, another Middle Eastern food, and the third one serves Indian. The good thing about it, though, is that you may order from any of the three menus no matter which building you are seated in, and the waiter will take the order to the appropriate kitchen. There is also seating outside with a view over the bay, which is nice when it's not too hot out.
I recommend the Al Bandar Curry (40 riyals) with chicken. There is also a set meal for 65 riyals that is listed on the Middle Eastern menu. The main dish varies according to the day of the week; it includes soup, salad bar, drink, and dessert. The salad bar also seems to be included when you order one of the Indian dishes, such as the Al Bandar curry Theme: LocalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averagePhone: 4311818Directions: The restaurant complex is on a pier which is accessed from the Corniche. I think this is ideal for weight watchers. For me a 6" sandwich is already enough. Similar to their other stores, there is a choice for the bread -> Honey oat, wheat or sesame For QR11, for a 6"sandwich. Add QR4 for soda and chips plus a choice of give away ->car sunshade, coffee mug or cap.
