Shwarma Alley is the place to go...: Hummus and Shwarmas are AWESOME!
Shwarma Alley is more a place than a restaurant. There are several restaurants along the street and people pull in (or just stop in traffic) to order shwarmas from the vendors who aggressively vie for your business.
Favorite Dish: Shwarmas are wraps usually filled with chicken or beef, some veggies, a pickle, and some sort of garlic sauce...delicious! I eat them every chance I get. I've had them at restaurants and mall fast food joints. Some places, they are better than others. Shwarmas generally run about USD $1.50 or so apiece.

The Movenpick Hotel: The best Italian this side of Roma
Thursday nights at the Movenpick is Italian night and I wouldn't miss it for the world. They have an excellent buffet or you can order a meal for a reasonable price. The vino rosso is surprisingly outstanding, although I can't comment on the white wine as I haven't had any yet. My favorite is the lasagna, which is better than (dare I say it) some I had in Italy. Buon appetito!
Favorite Dish: The lasagna! Served in a large Iron skillet, the top layer is covered in cheese and it is roughly five layers thick. Great stuff!
Desman: Best cheap Indian restaurant
Freshly prepared, tasty Indian food at very cheap prices... excellent chicken and lamb dishes... small restaurant, only half-dozen tables... but extensive menu. My favourite cheapie in Doha.
Favorite Dish: Lamb or chicken Muglai

Turkey Central: Like Turkish Food?
Traditional turkish cookin. Just like mom makes. Unbelivably economic and good to boot. One of the first local resturaunts that I went to when I arrived. It has become one of my favorites.
Favorite Dish: Chiken pies and Homus. Seasoned just right and cooked to perfection.
Fakhr al-Din: Mixed starters is the way to go!
The staff is so wonderful here. It is a chain restaurant that is located in a few places around Doha. So worth the visit. The food is fantastic and they can accomodate large groups. Some of their menu items are available in large sizes for that purpose.
Favorite Dish: Definitely try the mixed starters and mixed sampler. It is so worth it and will give you a taste of a lot of different traditional Middle Eastern dishes as well as some Qatari local dishes.

The whole souq is being renovated with many good options for dinning. We went to an Iraqui restaurant that was very good.
COFFEE BEANERY: FELT LIKE NEW YORK
I first visited Coffee Beanery in New York in 2001 so I was pleased to see a branch in Doha airport.
I enjoyed my coffee as it took me back to many great times in New York.
Favorite Dish: LATTE
COSTA COFFEE: BRITAINS FAVOURITE COFFEESHOP
I was pleased to discover that there was a Costa Coffee in each of the terminals at Doha airport. The coffee was the same, same blend and made the same way by the baristas so I was happy with that.
Al Bukhari: Lebanese Foods
I tried the restaurant for a change in taste. I find it popular in the food court as there are always queu whenever I passes by.
Favorite Dish: Shwarma, chicken with Biryani, chicken pizza

The Grande Cafe
Favorite Dish: This place was recommended by a friend, and I'm glad we came here! They served many wonderful dishes that left you with Garlic breath.
I grabbed a bag of small Samoosa's at this roadside shack....
Favorite Dish: The Samoosa's were pretty good, but much smaller than the Indian ones that I'm used to, but packed full of flavor!
Layali: Comfort and Lebanese food
We had lunch at Layali, a fine Lebanese restaurant in one of Doha's suburban strip malls. It was a very good alternative to the dozens of fast food chain restaurants around town!
