Qatar What to Pack

It's cold in the desert so bring a jacket...

If you are going to Qatar in February bring a jacket. It might be a desert country but it's cold in the evenings, and sometimes even in the day time. Most of the days I had to use my winterjacket because the wind was cold. A raincoat wouldnt be a bad choice either, cos it does rain, even in Qatar! sometimes for 2-3 days in a row!

Samsonites If you visit an european (especially germans) try to bring some pork-sausagges for them.It's not legal, because pork is forbidden, but if you get caught they just take it away. If you look to the picture, you can see our 'christmas'-day when we got visitors after 6 months

As in the rest of the Arabian Gulf, shorts are best worn only on the beach. Don't wear them in town and most certainly not in traditional suqs or villages. This is especially true for women. If you have sensitive skin, definitely bring a good sunscreen along. High protection preparations are not readily available. If you have a digital and bring along a battery charger, make certain it is either dual voltage or you have a transformer along. The current is 240v, 50 cycle, and they use British-style plugs, the huge, clunky ones. Make sure you turn on the switch alongside the outlet, too. Otherwise, your batteries won't charge up!

You do find some nice sights in Qatar, so remember your camera :)It's always the most important thing on my packing list. Though of course it is possible to buy everything you need in Qatar...
