  • The Pearl-Qatar, Porto Arabia Retail Shopping Area: Luxury Shopping & Dining

by ThePearl Written Nov 14, 2010

The epitome of Riviera Arabia living and home to The Pearl-Qatar main harbor, Porto Arabia combines elegant towers and townhouses in a spectacular location. The Islands first phase is set around a colorful waterfront La Croisette a lively 2.5-kilometer pedestrian concourse lined with fine shopping and dining. Its architecture is inspired by the best French, Italian and Spanish design.

Porto Arabia will be home to elegant residential towers contouring a Riviera-like boardwalk that harbors a magnificent marina of more than 780-boat slips. The bustling quayside is destined to become a cruising base for the region, as well as a convenient spot to board exclusive boats serving every corner of The Pearl-Qatar.

A dynamic shopping, dining and residential district is characterized by a boulevard-style café culture. The focal point is the Arabian Piazza, an exotic destination with an exciting international blend of chic retail and dining. From luxury vehicle dealerships and bespoke jewelers to fresh-from-the-catwalk designer wear, this mall showcases the very finest shopping experience in the most superb settings.
Porto Arabia captures the sophisticated essence of the Riviera in a magnificent style. Conducive to the highest standards of living, it is reminiscent of a continental harbor, yet positively alive with Arabian warmth and charm.

    Arabs love to smoke

    by Ewingjr98 Updated Jul 26, 2010

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Maybe it's because they grow up smoking hookahs filled with argilah, but Arabs love to smoke. The stores are full of cigarettes, mostly American brands like Winston. In the Qatar Duty Free stores, cigarettes take up a huge amount of the floor space, and here you will see lots of Arabs stocking up on fags.

World Health Organization studies show that 77 percent of Yemeni men, 51 percent of Syrian men, 48 percent of Jordanian men, 46 percent of Lebanese men, 37 percent of Qatari men, and 30 percent of Kuwaiti men smoke. In comparison, under 20 percent of Americans smoke cigarettes.

Qatar Duty Free is run by Qatar Air, the national airline of the country. Which means your cigarette money goes back to the Emir.

Doha airport is better than most malls

    by Ewingjr98 Updated Jul 26, 2010

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Doha airport is pretty small, just 20 or so gates, but in between the gates is a huge shopping area to serve the 14 million passengers a year. These duty free shops sell a wide variety of jewelry, cosmetics, perfumes, toiletries, clothing, electronics, souvenirs, books, luggage, food, coffee, liquor, tobacco, and more.

Oh, and they have Tang. Lots and lots of Tang.

by ChristinaC Updated Jul 10, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Landmark is not as big as the City Centre, but the atmospher is nice and relaxed, and you will find alot of the big brands here.
There is an area for kids, and if you feel like you want to go to the Cinema, that is possible too.

What to pay: Well, I didnt spend much money while I was there. I depends on the person, you can spend thousands on clothes, gold etc, but I just bought some postcards and candy, and spend 10 QR
