The City Centre Shopping Complex, Qatar

The City Centre is the biggest shopping mall in Qatar. Here you will find almost everything you are looking for. Most things are not really that much cheaper in Qatar, than it is in Europe, so finding a great deal is not that easy in this modern shopping center.
I use to just walk around, look at the people, grap a cup of hot chocolate at starbucks, and relax. It's the meeting spot for alot of the younger people in Qatar.

The City Center Mall is as modern, if not more so, as anything you will find in Europe or the US. It boasts the usual modern fashion shops, a mix of upscale Arabian speciality shops, furniture and interior decorating stores, and a Starbucks, to mention a few. You will be impressed by the ice skating rink in the middle of the mall.

Best of all, it has a Carrafour grocery store that carries all of your US/European cookiing supplies, and a good deal of South Asian ingredients.

Several exclusive cafes offer a fantastic view of the nearby Gulf and desert. The later is rapidly being developed.

What to buy: You will find everything you need here, within reason.

Inexpensive prescription sunglasses and reading glasses are a good buy.

What to pay: As much as you like

The City Center Shopping Complex is the same kind of mall that you can find anywhere in Western countries. Fast food restaurants (Arabic, Indian, American, etc.), movie theatre, Carrefour etc. can be found here.
It is very close to Sheraton hotel, so even if you don't know where you should look for the complex, heading towards the unique silhouette of Sheraton at the end of the Corniche is a good direction.

What to buy: Electronics are cheap in Carrefour: check prices of digital still and video cameras. However, if you travel via Dubai airport, they are even better there.

It is really hard to believe that in a country like Qatar which get around 45 C in summer as max. one can do Ice Escating !!! but it is a reality and if u go to Carrefor u can enjoy this facilty there.

People say that this Palza is made on a design of a ship and having the ship structure. From the picture on the left u can see that it really looks like a Big Cruise Ship !

What to buy: You should definitely buy special Arabic (Qatari) Parfume which are very very different in smell to other parfumes.

This Plaza or Shopping complex, is so big that there is an artificial Snow escating area as well !
