The lovely desert! The dunes...

by laruna

The lovely desert! The dunes which turn a haunting pink in the sunset, and make you feel so small in the vast expanses. The herds of wild camels you can see as you drive. Deeper in the desert are beautiful rocks. The sweltering summer heat and the desert. I will not complain of heat anywhere again! The people who have preserved a traditional way of life in spite of strong western influences.

by fkompani

Mine was a religious trip. The center most activity there is attending the holy places. MasjedolNabi in medina and Masjedolharaam in Mecca. Sitting in Masjedolharaam, I was looking at those who where praying. Some were walking around Ka'be some were saying their prayers some were just sitting there and children were running and playing. Different races of people white & black doing the same thing, together in peace. It looked to me like a big house, my house and theirs. A place where everyone can experience peace and happiness, can feel being in love and be loved, a real love, and that was amasing.

MECCA I won't repeating the commentry about Mecca. Please go the individual Mecca's page. I will take this opputunity to elaborate the Provincialof Saudi Arabia.HASA the EASTERN REGION.Fertile lowland coastal plains inhabited by the Shia'ah minority. They are living with a traditionally fishing, diving for pearls, raising Date palms and trading abroad and with the interior. All of Saudi Arabia's vast stocks of Oil lie under Hasa or beneath the Gulf. Locals are outnumbered by foreign oil workers from all over the world.NAJD of CENTERAL REGIONThe NAJD is a stony desert plateau at heart of Saudi Arabia, somewhat isolated from the rest of the penninsular. It was from here the Kingdom early federated. In the early time Ibn Saud from SAUD'S Qabila led his follower out to create a new Kingdom through conquest. Despite oil wealth, some Najdis still lead a semi nomadic life, tendering Camels and...

by Vilhelm

The cuisine in Saudi is my favorite thing. There are just to many things to see and do (if you are a man). There are alot of things to do in Saudi, you can just sit around all day and sulk about the restrictions that are on your life as you are there, or you can live with them and have a wonderful time while you are there. The sook in Jeddah is one of my favorite places in the whole wide world. To see all thoses people selling various items and then all the GOLD shops is amazing. I'll add a picture here shortly that I took of one of the windows of a GOLD shop. Seeing is believing. It is very unbelievable. If you are a scuba diver then diving is a must while you are in Saudi, one of the untouched pearls of the earth. Because there are huge restrictions on who gets to enter Saudi not alot of people have had the chance to dive there, and the corals are amazing. The one thing I miss the most...

by sandboarder

Camp in the desert. There are awesome places to visit, and you might even find places that few (if any Westerners) have ever seen. Things to see ... well, besides beautiful sand dunes and canyons, you can see ancient pictograms, meteor craters, fossil fields, ancient forts, little villages and bedouin settlements. Push your 4WD to the limit ... live the adventure! Scuba diving in the Red Sea, close to the Yemeni border.

by ksakids

Unless you have a job, family to visit or you are of the Islamic faith, there is really no reason to come here. In fact it is quite difficult, if not impossible as there is no such thing as a tourist visa. Those of us who live here not only need resident visas, we also need exit visas to leave.
