From Abha, take the road to Habala.
The village is close to al Wadiayn.
Turn off the main road and explore.
The locals are very nice and helpful.
These are typical south Arabian buildings, very few are left, but this village has some excellent examples.
Once we stopped an old lady to ask her where to buy silver jewellery(she was wearing the tradditional Abhawi dress with a big hat covering her head)so she told us just follow me,,she was walking by our car)....few meters ahead we reached a very well built large house with a terrace,so she welcomed us in and offerd some tea, then she brought us her own silver jewellery, and although we didnt buy any(because it was kinda expencive)but she was so hospitable, she even offerd us to stay for lunch but we could not possibly accept.
I always miss this Abhawi hospitality.
This old house was lovingly restored by its owner and turned into a museum of Arabian culture and tradition. It includes a restaurant and coffee shop as well as theater.
